As before, I'm passing on the email I recieved from Rogers about their takeover of @ home service. Here's the email I got:

Dear ***** ******;

Last week we advised you that Rogers @Home is preparing to make some important
changes to your high-speed Internet service. These changes will result in a
better service, including for example, Web-based Email giving you Email access
from anywhere in the world. THE TIMING AND URGENCY OF THESE CHANGES ARE
NECESSITATED BY THE FINANCIAL INSTABILITY OF EXCITE@HOME.

STARTING NOVEMBER 22, 2001 AT 10:00 AM EST, you will need to take steps to
change your Email and Webspace addresses. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO
THIS BY NOVEMBER 30, 2001. Rogers is attempting to make arrangements for Email
forwarding after November 30, 2001. However, this has not been finalized and
therefore it is necessary to make these changes so you do not lose your Email.

Your source of information during this transition is http://www.rogershelp.com.
Please visit this site regularly for updates. As well, a special "how to" guide
and information package, containing easy-to-follow instructions to assist you
with the changeover has been mailed to you.

A REMINDER:
Your Email will change from ***** @home.com to ***** @rogers.com.

Please ignore any capital letters that may appear in the addresses above and
treat them as all lowercase letters.

Please start telling friends, family and other contacts that you'll be moving
to "@rogers.com".

The countdown to the November 22nd date has begun, and we need your assistance
to make this transition as smooth as possible.

Once again, we thank you for your cooperation and assistance during this
transition as we work to provide you with a better high-speed Internet service.

Yours truly,

Alek Krstajic
Senior Vice President
Rogers Cable

I trimmed some crap out of it but the meat of the subject is there. Just so you know. :)

I got a little card in the mail that told me that I had to do that. But Cogeco doesn't offer web space and I never used my Cogeco@home email address till I phoned them up and asked them to tell it to me. They converted it then.

This is all pretty 'trippy'. I HAD Rogers@home, and a couple months ago it switched to Shaw@home (as did the cable tv). I think Rogers and Shaw swapped some territory.
I had to change mine from @home to @shaw.ca! :eh?:

On a slightly different note, I called them for my email address (I finally broke down and got it) and found out that Cogeco is no longer charging for modem rental (but I'll believe it when I see the next bill)! It always feels good to have an extra $10 a month to sink into the other woman (my computer) ^_~

Sucker! :D Rogers has always waived the modem rental fee.

Well, I guess Cogeco finally decided to do the same. My baby will be happy, anyways.

Just what is a Cogeco anyway? It sounds like a relative to the lemming or something. "The rare and wily canadian Cogeco". :) I know what a Rogers is, It's a guy named Ted.

Y'know, I have absolutely no idea! Maybe its just a Grimsby-and-area thing. Some really drunk guy slured "Hmmm, Cogeco sounds like a good name for a company!" and it was so. Lord knows that there isn't much to do in this town other than drink.
