I got one of this (http://www.frozencpu.com/cst-372.html)(I know it's not the best or even a good setup, but I have it, b/c it's in a price that I can't resist!! hints: very cheap!!). now I'm just wondering what's the best parts to let me finish up this setup? which cpu block is easy to remove w/out taking out the mobo (easy to swap cpu)?? I most likely will be just cooling the cpu, not the gpu (for now).

and anyone has any comment/info of this setup?? yes, it looks clean, but not sure the performance and noise level tho?? could it be at least beat the best air cooling with the righ block??

or I'd better sell it and do my own setup?? (but I do want a clean looking and a dremel and I isnt' the best buddy too.....)

TIA guys!!

I'm not sure what you mean by "very cheap!!", because it really isn't....;). Your best bet would be to sell/return it and build one from scratch; much better performance, more fun, more upgradeable and more moddable. Check the stickies for parts advice.

I'd say if you're getting it for a good enough price, then that isn't a bad system. I can't seem to find any info on the pump in there, so I'd go with a lower restriction CPU block to be safe. I'd get a Swiftech Apogee with 3/8" barbs. They're only $50 and very good blocks.

Hope you'll post back with results on this system. Curious to see how it performs.

EDIT: ....kinda curious what "very cheap" is.

"very cheap" as to a LOT lower than the retail price on the site!! let's say I'm paying for the same $ as to the lian li case alone!! means, all w/c extra/mods are "kinda" free!! can't go too much further for details, sorry guys.

hmmm.... yeah, I was thinking a strom or a apogee block.... but are they easy to swap cpu?? I too was hoping to find some more info about that pump (so-called high volumn.....??)

well without knowing if the pump decent in there, I'd go with he apogee over the storm. The storm is a restrictive block.

The apogee is held down with 2 screws. It screws into your existing CPU backplate, so you don't have to remove the MB if you don't want to.

it's really not much different than swapping out with an air cooler (except that you can't go very far with it since it's hooked to the water lines) :)

9-13.2VDC, >6 L/min (1.8 GPM), >3m (10ft) head pump used in Koolance PC4-1000 and RP-1000 products.

think thats the pump spec

it will beat the best aircooling by a fair amount imho pair it with apogee cpu and mcw60 gpu on the 3/8 barbs you'll be happy with the results and have a dam fine looking pc

hmmm....so it's like 100GPH or so only.... not that powerful tho.... good thing I'm just cooling the CPU... so, a apogee probably my best bet.

although more restrictive, the Storm will give you a (slightly) lower temp than the Apogee (@ almost ANY flow rate)

this can be said when comparing the Storm to 99.9% of the production blocks out there
(Cathar's G5 being the one that WILL beat the Swifty-Storm ;))

note: if $ is an issue, the $/temp ratio SUCKS, assuming your cooling a CPU with an IHS, your only talking a degree or two @ BEST for up to 2X the $ ....

GOOD LUCK :D

oh really? even with a low flow pump like that?

yup... check it out : http://www.procooling.com/index.php?func=articles&disp=131

although the Apogee is not on that chart, you can tell it aint going to beat the Storm ;)

this is always a touchy subject... let me put it this way:
assuming you can get 1GPM (or more) through the Storm, it will beat 99.9% of the blocks out there
(since given the same pump/rad you will have a higher (loop) flow with a less restrictive block)

Tks Joe, I think I'll settle down for the Strom! ;)

p.s. I'll be back looking for anwser again when I work on my multi-cpu cooling project for my folding cabinet...... ;)
