for the second time I've failed
got all the parts and wrestled it all day long but...

http://img311.imageshack.us/img311/6540/dscn2186os6.jpg

it's not quite what I expected :bang head

it's the second time I couldn't fit them inside the case
last time I had small mid tower so I figured this time it would work since I gotta full tower case(Silverstone TJ06).
but yet again, it wont fit inside the case

my last solution is to try fillport and then smaller rad
or go back to air, it's been too much hassle already

Ummm, you're supposed to figure out placement and mounting for the various parts before filling the loop. Your rad should fit in the bottom of the case. Or in the front if you hack off one of the floppy bays.

I know, just running it outside until I figure out what to do next...

floppy bay is rivetted to the case.. it's gonna be tough

i got the same case man i know what your going through
you should hack the floppy up as slug said. take your stuff out before you do it tho :) and work on that wire job hehe mine is a mess too :(

Thats what a drill is for. drill them out, the bay will pop right out.

Then go phase :p J/K

You can also pop rivets out using an ice pick and a hammer.

while we're on the topic of this case... anyone else with the TJ06 have the front panel rattle like their is no tommorow? its driving me bonkers

God No! I just got rid of my Vapochill, too big, too heavy, consumes too much power, and doesn't cool nearly as well as it should under high voltages and full load.

really? I didn't know it was going to be that easy
when I get a fillport, this might just work

I found that using a tee instead of a bay reservoir gave me alot more room and simplfied things, ofcourse theres alway the route I went Ufo-U2 case talk about tons of room:)

eitehr that or something small like a swiftech micro res, or that res that fits in a single 3 1/2 bay i dont rember the name offhand, but thats freaking expensive like 44 dollars

Then there wasn't enough refigerant charge and or the cap tube was too long, for the correct load, but it was a J/K man ;)

btw.. If you thought it wasn't performing correctly you could have asked in the extream cooling section what was up.. the question would have been answered ;)

dont mess up that front panel tho :)

No, you can use a pop rivet gun and some pop rivets to put it back in.

you only have to drill through the rivet, no farther (or hammer it out like CS suggested, IME if you have a drill it does a cleaner job). You dont go all the way out to the front panel.

You have to realize that most cases are going to take some hole cutting/modding to install a watercooling loop. As was suggested, you can mount the rad either in the front, the bottom, or even on top of the case if you want to.

Sometimes you won't be able to find "the perfect case" for what you're doing. More and more people are building their own custom cases. I am :D.

I was getting about the same temps as reviewers did, it was the price/performance ratio that didn't satisfy me.

The TJ06 can easily be watercooled...

OP, you have a full-tower case and you still can't fit all your parts in the case? I fit everything but the rad in my mid-tower case...

Best thing to do if you don't want headaches is plan plan plan. You can't overplan ;)

Unfortunatly that starts with case and part selection and you are already past that point. Still it is not too late. Take your time though. Instead of trying to "cram" the parts in, take some measurements and see what you need to ditch out of your case to make it work.

IMHO water cooling isn't hard, but its all in the preperation. Gotta do your homework ;)

As did mine.
Which is why it's long gone.
As are most of the parts in that pic, for that matter- including the case.
I think I built the TJ06 almost two years ago...since then I've been through three Stackers and am now in a TJ07.

I kinda have a fetish about cases.

Looks like it.. You can get them off ebay though.

It's a PolarFlo variant.
They make the ally pump head and use the Laing pump body.
It's kinda noisy I thought, although the bling factor is high.

how does this look?

got some better tubing and at least now everything is inside the case :santa:
I couldn't put the reservor in 5.25 bay because the tube just wont bend that way witout folding

Nice case, but your loosing a lotttttt of flow going pump>rad>res>cpu . Just think about it... Switch those tubes around and go res>pump>cpu>rad and youll see much better results

i dunno about you, but id say hes going pump > cpu > res > rad . the inlet is on the top of the pump, which is pointing sideways towards the cpu.

BTX? It's not really that wierd...

BTW, for you guys saying pump->rad, look at the new pic where it's all in the case. It goes pump->cpu->res->rad->pump i believe (going from memory

not BTX, w-ATX. there is a difference suprisingly, what it is, ill never know.

bad for P5W/P5B deluxes /DQ6 etc..?

Now that you have got this together, you will find that it gets easier with every change and build. The first watercooling setup I did like to took me forever. Now I can plan a layout in my head in no time.

bad for P5W/P5B deluxes /DQ6 etc..?

the P5B deluxe and the P5W Deluxe and the DQ6 will have issues bacuase of how the heatpipes on the mobo work. they are meant to when they get hot, have the heat wicked away to the highest point, but since they would now be upside down, the heat would just wick to the top of a chipset.

Moto7451

The difference between BTX and w-ATX is that BTX repositions the CPU and memory so that you can cool them better... in theory. The placement of the chipset was also changed to lower latency. And as a plus, its a hideous layout.

Who would put the ATX connector, floppy connector, and ATA connector where Intel wants them?

wow clocker2 has a nice case. Holy crap that thing looks roomy ^^

I'd switch it up to:

Res-->pump-->rad-->cpu-->res

If you go pump-->cpu then it's going to get the heatdump from the pump.

Phrenetical
09-07-06, 09:19 PM
not much of one, but the reason you go pump to cpu is thats where the flow is best and no restriction, it actually improves cooling effeciency.

Now that I watercool, the only thing that rattles is one of my radiator standoffs.

Thanks :D I kinda like the paint, but the case overall is way too heavy for frequent LANs, and the paint is to easily removed, so I have something even cooler in the works ;)
