I ordered RAM from Newegg and it looks like the UPS dude sat on my package. Thankfully it was some OCZ RAM (solid heatspreaders). FedEx seem to be a lot better.

I hope this doen't become a habit with UPS.

Yeah I like fedex much more, they are faster and seem to treat the items better; in my area atleast.

I would bet that it fell out of the back of the ups truck and was run over by a car, then the ups guy turned around and got it. :(

Well, I'm not really bitching about it because the RAM works fine. But man was I ****ed or what, when I picked up the mangled package.
Newegg should offer us an option of choosing a carrier. Far too many complaints against UPS.

That is pretty bad! It seems lately that my UPS packages have been beat up a little more the the Fedex packages but not as bad as yours.

They do have an option. It's in the pull down menu when you choose your shipping. Fedex is more expensive at newegg now because UPS probably cut a deal with Newegg, but whatever. I still choose the fedex saver even if it's like $6 more than UPS because my packages are always on time or early, and always treated right. The only thing the fedex people don't do on my route is ring the doorbell or knock. I actually stood in the other room when he came one day just to see if I missed the doorbell or something... but no that wasn't the case. He came up to the door, put down the package and walked again. No knock, no courtesy ring or anything. Basically I only have to worry about neighborhood theft, the packages are always on time and never damaged. :)

WOW....I've never had a package come in like that
I goto the UPS Store to ship things (when I HAVE to use UPS) and the lady there always asks me if I have it WELL packed. And she really stresses the "well". She says "Those guys just throw these things, big package or small package, they just throw them. So always insure and always pack very well"
made me a little weary to ship. But the only place I can ship Fedex is a 20+ minute drive.
And yeah, newegg does still offer Fedex as an option, just at higher prices. IT's a shame, because I've always had great service from Fedex. They ALWAYS deliver faster than UPS does. EVERY shipment I've had from UPS, was quoted a delivery date and was delivered on that date. And 80% of the time the package will sit in a distibution center for more than 24 hours. Whereas almost every Fedex Shipment I've had, which was quoted a delivery date, was delivered earlier.
And usually when UPS of Fedex come I'm home and go out to the truck to greet them and get the package. And you can just tell from the body language of the UPS driver that he doesn't care about the packages. just tosses them around, no matter what could be in them. Whereas the Fedex drivers (I've had 2 of each BTW) actually handle the packages carefully.
Now that may just be in front of me, but whatever the case, at least they care enough to project that image, UPS could care less.
When you go brown, you get pooped on.

Also UPS uses conveyor belts, while FedEx hand moves most of theirs.

I have 2 orders that are supposed to come in from Newegg today that I ordered on Thursday and Friday. The order from Thursday was for some DDR2 and shipped with UPS and the order I placed on Friday was for a vid card and other things and since it was only a couple of dollars more, I shipped it Fedex Saver instead of UPS. It will be interesting to see what kind of shape each order arrives in. It's taking UPS a full 3 working days to get the ram from Tennessee and It is taking Fedex Saver only 2 working days to get the vid card order from California.
I just received 2 beat-up packages via UPS on Monday, one had RAM, and the other had a MOBO/Heatsink. The boxes were spilling styrofoam peanuts and all but the items were unharmed. FedEx, and DHL are so much better with their packages.
*My brother and my his pal used to work for UPS @ one of their main hubs in Dallas. They tell me that they used to just chunk packages even if they said fragile. The best story is that my brothers friend saw a package that said "Live Reptiles" so he decided to shake it up, and then throw it.

FedEx also uses belts. They just handle like 1/20th the packages as UPS, so they can take their sweet time. Packages get thrown at UPS. This is nothing new. The reason Newegg and other companies have switched from offering only FedEx to other carriers as well is because FedEx comes in at new business and offers a bottom of the barrel price to get the vendor's business. Then when contract renewal comes up, they will more than double their prices (because they can't afford to do it so cheaply when they are not set up to handle that sheer volume of packages at that price). Happened at Newegg, happened with Dell, happened with alot of customers. The price of capitalism: choice.

While I don't consider DHL to be bad, I did have a bonehead driver once. I had a fairly long driveway, and so instead of them putting he package at my door (as UPS and fedex would) they put it on the ground by my mailbox! IN THE RAIN. Luckily the computer stuff (Don't remember exactly what it was) was in an antistatic bag and therefore didn't get soaked. But it still worked.
But I was ****ED.
