I remember seeing something about time limits on folding data before- is this still in effect?

I ask because I am getting very slow results on these villin proteins ( also due to running the client for the "other" team:) ).

I have changed priority to HIGH on all pcs running the client, including the Win9x rigs (using the task monitor from here (http://www.niresoft.com/) and this seems to improve things a bit, but I still have not completed one protein in 3 or 4 days!

Will this work be credited or thrown out?

I believe you have 6 days for a villin. This is the page for project 105.

I found this page by clicking on my username on the F@H2 stats page then clicking on the # that represents the protein. hope this helps. Fold on!!!

Thanks Kendan. I'll have to track and make sure that I get SOME results within 6 days!

So far the pc I'm using has done 10 frames:confused:
the xp has done about 36, and the other has done 26- maybe 2 of them will be done in time!

What pc are you using unless its a p200 it should be way quicker!!

the 3 AMD rigs in my sig!

Problem seems to be that I also run SETI@Home (which seems to get along with the Folding@Home client as well as Crunchers and Folders do:D )

Seti uses about 90 cycles to Foldings 4!

The rig I'm using right now is the 900@1068- I don't think it will finish the protein in the allotted time!

The other 2 may though: I'm hopeful any way!

I'm running a freeware task manager to set Win9x priority to HIGH to get some extra cpu time out of the other 2- this rig is Win2k, FAH set to high.

If anyone has ANY ideas (besides getting rid of SETI!) on how I can fold faster PLEASE let me know!

Are you running win9x/Me on all of the boxes?? If so this should be fixable. just haven't been able to do anything about win2k yet.

What task manager are you using? There is a shareware taskmanager that will work for 50 executions before you need to buy the license.

<edit> OK. Win9x/me on two of the boxes. Wasn't paying close enoguh attention :( </edit>

The task manager I'm using is from niresoft solutions (http://www.niresoft.com/) .

It seems to work ok, but just grabbed it last night. Right away I could see a much faster buildup of cpu time- seems to get the same amount of cpu cycles, just gets them a lot more often.
Itried running at realtime, but all the rigs crashed!

I'm going to stick with that task manager for now, since its freeware, but if it doesn't get the proteins done in time I'll try the other too.

More ideas?
