Bought a Netgear FA311 Ethernet card two days ago. Seems to be fine with one exception. I can't put my PC in standby or hibernation mode. Error message says "that the NIC card driver is not allowing the PC to enter standby/hibernation mode . Driver may need to be updated".

However, I have the latest driver and still can't enter standby/hibernation. Thinking of returning it for a Linksys NIC.

Any suggestion on a good NIC? Thanks!!!

System is overclocked (PIII 450@600 on a Asus P3B-F).

It must be some 3rd party software you're using with it, because I have the same Netgear and it can go on standby mode anytime.

What OS are you running? What driver version do you have?

I'll try reinstalling it and see what happens. Thanks

I use the drivers that come with it, maybe that is the reason why I can go online. I've tried it with ME and 98SE. But I did flash my EEPROM.
