I have a Biostar M7VKB
with a Duron 700. I have the motherboard running at 106mhz, but I was unsure how to unlock the CPU. I keep seeing posts on the Athlon XP(Which I have to oc on my other PC) but I am unsure of what i need to do on this PC.

its called the pencil trick.
all you do is connect the L1 bridges with a pencil, but dont cross any. look for detaild info on the web its very easy, btw u could probally get ure fsb up higher with better ram. peace be with you

if its pc133 it would be excellent because the duron runs @ fsb 100 ... so if it is, you will have no memory probs if you want to OC
if its pc100 i think your mem will be maxed out @ 110-115
keep us informed with the progress of your system

PC becomes unstable at 110FSB, but its fine at 107. I just ordered new PC 133, so we will see what happens when I put it in. Scott

do you have a 133mhz compatible mobo?
If you do then you should be able to easily hit 133mhz fsb, if no chances are you wont get higher than 117mhz.
Alot of the time ram isnt the thing holding you back, I have some generic cheap ram(oh ya did i say old) that is speced for 100mhz fsb at cas3, but i was able to hit 148mhz at cas2, and this was a duron800(i lowered the multiplier to 5 because my cpu maxed out at 931.

Hope this helps

btw what chipset is on that mobo?

VIA KT133.

What is the difference between CAS2 and CAS3?

ok that is the reason why you cant hit 133 fsb, you chipset doesnt support it!( I wish this was the first question asked it would have saved alot of time).
even with the pc133 it wont beable to hit it, the most you will be able to hit with a kt133 would be probably 120mhz(and this is considered really lucky).
The difference between cas2 and cas3 is the amount of cpu cycles it uses(cas2=2 cpu cycles and cas3=3cpu cycles) so cas2 is the fastest(a 700mhz has 700000 cpu cycles).

hope this helps

btw i used to have a kt133 mobo, it was a chaintech 7aia and i was able to do 117mhz stable but anything higher wouldnt let me go(even when i tried the 133fsb jumper). The only good thing about having pc-133 ram in your situation is that you can run it at full speed by setting the memory speed setting to host+33.
