memory speed drops

Here is my problem. I have two sticks of DDR 3200 512mb each .If I use either one in the computer in either slot the memory runs at full speed 200mhz but if I add the second stick in any configuration the speed drops to 166mhz . Why is this happening.

Are you skipping a slot (i.e. RAM in slots 1 and 3 or in slots 2 and 4)?

There's only 2 slots.

I'm not sure. Where in the bios should I look .

it should be somewhere in with the rest of the memory settings. It should also say what mode it's in during post.

I got them runnning @200. Had to manualy set the speed in the bios.cpuz says there in single mode.I didn't see any option in the bios to change the mode (dual or single).Read and write benchmarks back up to normal so I'm satisfied.
