Any comments on the mobo listed below is welcome, specially concerning if RAM will work with it or no.
(By the way, the mobo also accepts DDR1. Is it a better option? In terms of performance.)

I choose this mobo due to availability of AGP, and PCI-e (I know 4x, but it is ok).

What do you think?

Thanks a lot in advance.

From the reviews I've seen it is a decent mobo. The fsb limit seems to be around 300-320. DDR2 will be your best performance option. The only draw back is the 4x pci-e. If you have a high end AGP card it should work fine ie; 7800GS/X850PE.

FSB limit 300? Meaning it can take the fastest Conroe? I though Conroe is running at fsb=1066
(or it means 1066/4= 267MHz)??

Be weary of this board... I was going to buy it untill i noticed the graphics performance issues.

The PCIe only runs at 4x, which is slow! And the AGP has serious performance issues as well as drastic quality drop.

I'll post you a review if you like. My advice is to buy a better name board like Gigabyte or ASUS running the same chipset.

The chipset is clever but it does limit performance wise. I would think definately about whether you want to make the change to a DDR2 PCIe board and scrap the older technology.

I'm upgrading and in the same predicament.

You're confusing FSBs. The Conroe/Allendale is 266*X x=The multiplier on the CPU example: 266*8= 2128 E6400.

1066 refers to the bus frequency. Bus frequency of presslers, for example is 800.

The FSB limit he was refering to was in terms of overclocking. i.e. 300*8 for an E6400 would be 2400mhz... which is still a HELL of an overclock. The E6400 is actually capable of running 3.6 mhz or higher with its eyes closed.

well...

conclude thats its not that bad... basicly for the 52€ price tag and for those
1) with a half decent AGP card
2) not having cash to buy CPU/DDR2/PCIe GPU/Mobo all at the same time..

50ish€ is a small price to pay to be able to make your AGP card and DDR last a little longer while gathering pennys in the piggy bank to afford 2Gb of DDR2 or a Vid card and then after that maybe a better mobo could be on the cards.

Im considering it for a mate who wants to upgrade his PC (Ath XP) but dosnt have too much cash right now..
350€ gets him a E6600 and the VSTA mobo.. he re-uses his 2x512 DDR and his 7600GT.. before Xmas we both get bonus's from work and maybe he gets DDR2.. then as and when after that he can buy any *better* mobo and GPU he wants, cos by then the bugs/reviews should be worked out of SLI/Xfire DVX10 and the mobo's should be down in price.

just cos its not the greatest doesnt mean its not right for some...

later

Well I'd be interested to see how well you overclock with that board, if you decided to get it.
