I know that you cant use high settings unless you have a 512mb card but is there a way you can hack the setting so you can run them on high w/o a 512mb card?

Open the renderer_settings.xml with wordpad edit the resolution and refresh rate that suits your monitor, set each texture setting that is on medium to high and that should also give you high textures.

Just so you know...if you change ALL the settings to high you might run into issues with a 256mb card. I did this with my x800gto2 and the ground textures became a checkerboard with black squares. There obviously wasn't enough video memory to display all high textures. You might have to mess around with some textures set to medium so you won't run into this type of problem.
