for the active members on the board, could we match up people with similar machines, or average wu times or something, and have them square off for the week. like friendly competition. this is just an idea, and i know we could expand on it or something. i think it would just be another way for us to crunch, and interact together.

I don't see why not. Right now I am in a race with Mictlan...the winner is decided by who gets to 1000 first.

Seems like an interesting competition. If I were to be matched up with someone running faster than me, though, I'd of course be forced to go buy more hardware. :D

Yep.....it's one ofthe fun parts to be part of a team. You can always have a friendly competition with someone. And you contribute to an overall goal, like total domination of the SETIqhome charts.

This was sort of done on my old team. People squared off and created Virtual mini teams (containing one or more members) within a team. The idea was to create a bit of competition amongst those that didn't have any immediate targets. Then stats were produced to show how those virtual teams were doing compared to each other.

well, i've been using our team's Top Cruncher & SETI Team to compare w/ others, especially those producing 'bout the same amount of WUs. and aiming to pass them if they are ahead of me...;)

Actually Cy, 10000 is going to be really close. Right now I only have a 3 day advantage on you and your WU ave is on the rise - while mine has leveled off. It will be close.
I can't challenge TC, yet, he has a 500+ day lead on me. Ah why not - I challenge Cy and schnider to 10001 - and I challenge TC to 20000.

No, no, no. In this virtual - pick a goal - like the first team to produce 5000 WU's from a given start point.

You know... Most of our forum names are diffrent than our SETI names.... How do I know who I'm crunching against on the team stats if I don't know their name?? Just an idea, but mabey we could all put our SETI usernames in our sig so we can figure out who everybody is out here....

Anybody wanna race me? As long as you have less than 400WUs to your name (or a slower cruncher than mine :eek: ) we can race to the projected intercept WU. First one to the point that we should theoreticly (yeah... like theory is reality... :rolleyes: ) reach at the same time wins!!

I think a good competition should be in the group members just added to the team. Bashers vs. mine. May the best of the worse win.

I would take you on by myself if they would let me back into the computer labs. Those babies are not meant to check e-mail for the rest of their lives :( It was nice doing 120work units a day...even if it was only for a day.
