I know there's a way to run programs in a "Windows 95 emulation layer" or something like that, but forgot how do do it and can't find the info anywhere. Anyone know how?

I had win2k set up with the option before, but when I formatted a while back I lost the data. There's several games that don't like windows 2000, and it's really annoying to reboot just to play a game for a few minutes, especially if I have to stop downloads to do it.

Right click on the program, select the compatibility tab. Click the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" Select the OS of your choice.

That goes for setup programs that won't install too. That's how I got Fallout2 working=)

Yea, but in Win2k there isn't a "compatability tab" by default... you have to enable/unhide it somehow... that's the part I can't remember how to do.

Right=)

I forgot Win2k didn't have it by default. Anyways, get your Win2k CD ready because the program is on that disc.

Open the Wink2k CD, go to support folder. Click on APCOMPAT.exe

In 'Start the following program' type location of the program then select your compatibily mode. Pre-SP2 I had this copied onto the desktop.

If ya got SP2 up(you should):
Run: regsvr32 %systemroot%\apppatch\slayerui.dll
Hit ok when done.

To use it, I think you gotta have a shortcut to the program. Right click on the shortcut, Click properties and head over to compatibility and choose your OS.

That should do it.

No... well at least not with mine. After I ran the .dll thing above it showed up though.

As far as SP2, it doesn't work on my machine for some reason. If I try installing it then my computer locks up on re-boot. I tried it twice and both times I have to use the "repair" function to return it to the original install config (SP1). Everything works fine anyway, and I don't plan on changing any hardware in my system for at least a year.
