I just installed my Lian-Li PC-12 case. Are there any recommendations to upgrade the standard ADDA case fans with fans that have higher CFM's, but not too loud? Hope this is the correct section to post this. Mods; maybe this belongs in cooling.
I am doing some reasearch on your case right now!
When you say upgrade, do you mean:
A) Upgrade to the same size fans but higher quality
B) Upgrade to bigger size fans
What fans do you have in there now, who is the manuf.http://www.ytec.d2g.com/emoticons/question.gif
Ok,
It is my understanding that your case has three (3) 80MM
case fans 2 up front & 1 in the back, there is maybe
even enough space under the rear fan to mod a new one in.
I will bring forth a few options, as to what fans I think are ideal.
It is up to you to deside the proper one for your noise/performance
needs.

Wow YMAN, thanks for the most excellent research. You did all the work for me. :D . I need more CFM than the standard case fans can give me. Right now my case temp is at 32C. I need to get it down some more. Most appreciated.
Id say a standard fan will most likely be 26-32 CFM.
What heatsink/fan do you have, so I can analize the
noise that your computer makes right now.
Can you pull one of the current case fans and tell us
what fan it is (who makes it, what it says on the label)

I'm using a Glaciator I right now. I think it's very quiet. I will have to pull out one of the case fans to check on the model and check the rated CFM and db's. I just know the case fans aren't doing a very good job because my case temp is warmer by 6 degrees C than my previous case. So much for the cooling properties of an aluminum case.

YMAN - The case fans are 80mm ADDA AD0812MS-A70GL. They are rated at 31.4CFM with a noise level of 28.3db. The specs are listed here (http://www.jaro1.com/ad8025.htm).
The fan you have is very reasonable however
in order for you to recieve a good change in case
temprature you will proboably want to go with the
sanyo denki on my list, however take not that it makes
45Dba of noise but is considerably better than a deltas whine.
If noise is an issue you may have a problom with this
fan. If noise is not an issue hey, go for the delta!
A few more CFM will not make the best of a change
so for better results I would say the sanyo denki is the
one.
What type of thermal compound are you using?
Who makes it what is its name? Or is it just a no brand
thermal pad.

I am using AS with the Glaciator I. I have my 1.2 Athlon at 1.33 with 1.79v, very stable. I've taken off and reinstalled my Glaciator a few times, but always get the same temps. My full load temp is 48C with a case temp of 30C and ambient temp of 23C. I don't really like my full load temp being so close to 50C. I have a fan on the greenie Northbridge chip and a fan on my Radeon LE hs. Thanks for your help, I'll try the Sanyo Denki and see if I can stand the noise with three of them.

I just heard the db levels for many 80mm fans at sidewinder (http://sidewindercomputers.com/tecar.html) . I found this fan Sunon 80mm Ultra High Speed (http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/sun80ulhigsp.html). Would this make a good substitute for the Sanyo Denki? It seems to be me to be much quieter.
Yes, That would be a good alternative.
Sunnon has been known for there good fans.
It is also quieter so...I'd say if thats what you
like - give it a shot!
- dont forget to keep us posted!
Maybe you need to clean up inside the case. Cables & wires should be tucked away from the airflow channel. Having 48°C with a Lian Li should not happen. I got me one too & I'm so happy with my purchase.

Yes, I would reccomend rounded cables!
They help alot with the airflow in the case.

I just received the case before I posted the original message. I have rounded cables and all the wires are neatly tucked away. Every cable that can impede the airflow has been twist-tied. It's the neatest looking inside of a case I've ever had. That's why I think it might be the CFM of the fans. My load temp has always been 48C even when my setup was in my old Fong-Kai case. Thanks.
In that case its very likely, I can wait to see your comp
with those new 5400RPM sunnons!
