I picked up an X-Fi Platinum, new, off Ebay. I installed it tonight but system in sig would not recognize the card. I had disabled the onboard sound, the OB gameport, etc and uninstalled the drivers before installing the X-Fi. I had put the SC in the bottom PCI slot originally so I tried moving it up to the only other slot showing, still nothing. I even tried removing one of my 7800's and trying the top PCI slot. Still nothing. I looked through the Asus book and I could not find any jumper that needs to be switched to use a pci soundcard instead of the OB. Am I missing something or is the X-Fi DOA?

Make sure it's actually put in properly, sometimes I make the mistake of not getting it fully in. Also, try to install it on a friends system.

It is getting firmly seated, first thing I checked. When I get home from work tonight I will try an old SB Live card I have. If that works I will try the X-Fi in my file server. That will show me what is at fault for sure. Didn't think of it last night.

Update. I am really guessing the card is DOA. I put it in my little file storage server, 800mhz PIII and it will not even POST with it in place of the SB Live card that is in it. Pull the X-fi out and it boots right up. Oh well, even Creative makes a mistake evry so often.
