Hay, I currently have a RAID-0 with 2 different models of 40GB Maxator drives. What I'm wondering is will I notice much different between having these 2 as opposed to having 2 of the same model? Also, is it wise to run windoze, my apps, and files off of this 1 big striped partion or break it up into smaller partitions (i.e. 3GB for system, 10GB for apps, etc.)?

Also, while I'm at it, what's the best RAM to get? I recently bought a Kingston 512MB pc2100 chip which seems to be working well, but want to see what everyone else's opinions were..

thnx

With 2 different drives the RAID forces both of the drives to run at the slowest speed of the 2. It works, but would be better if they were the same.
I do not know for sure, but I do not think partitions would make a difference in your case.
Kingston is good memory.

Memory wouldn't really affect RAID performance anymore than it will affect overall system performance.

As far as using two different drives, if they are on their own controller, they will both operate at their maximum allowance but overall performance will be the result of how the two function in tendem.

Partitioning doesn't impact RAID performance much if you only have two partitions, however, as partitions increase performance will take a hit since the partition information has to be continuously read causing a bit of overhead.

Alright, thanks for your input guys.
