Well, I was at this Intel retail edge event and i won a pentium d 820 and an intel d945psn board. Im pretty excited. I finally get to toss the athlon xp 2500+. Anyways i picked up a pny 6600 video card, the ultra 120 heatsink, and 2 gigs of the ocz platinum xtc ram. When they offer the bundles for sale in october ill swap out to the core 2 and the board they give you. Anyways, my question is how good are these intel boards? I figure it will work fine for now im not doing anythign crazy with this computer. And then also which fans are good for this heatsink? I have heard about people using two fans on it to push and pull the air. I am going to try this and i was looking for panaflo fans again but i found these and wondered if they are good too. They had better cfm and also lower db so i figured id look into it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811999344

Intel brand motherboards are known to be solid and dependable. But, typically they are very limited for overclocking.

Yea, I assumed the overclocking is limited. I honestly dont plan on overclocking this time. Mabey just a little bit if it allows for it. I dont wanna mess anything up since im going to try selling it when I buy my core 2 in october.

I use a 830 D on a 945Gnt board and it is solid but it is very poor for O/C. Would recommend using SATA for H/D

Bear how poor is it for overclocking? Will it OC at least 10%? I just picked one up today for real cheap. I was thinking of Using it to replace my ECS P4M800PRO-M mobo. I figure it would be more stable. But I will need to pick up a new Video Card.

Any overclocking will have to be done via software programs as actual Intel boards are FSB locked.

the vast majority are, some aren't...

example, the Badaxe.

Like batboy said they are definately dependable, but OC options are limited.

IMO this board is as solid as you can get but overclocking any thing except the Ram is a NO.
