I've got a dead P4 1.4g in my hands - what shall I do with it?

Has anyone ever tried buying a replacement for their dead equipment and sent the dead on back? I guess the only problem is the serial number.

Oh I forgot to mention - the whole base unit was bought very cheap as it was not working.

The shop in question does not do repairs, just floggs the stuff cheap.

Contact Intel. They will tell you from the serial number weather it's under warranty or not. If not, you're going to pay for a new one. =(

This is why I pay retail for my chips....usually only $20 or so more, but gives a 3 year warranty instead of only (sometimes) 30 days.

If Intel Does replace it, it generally only takes a few days to get it back. In my case it took 4.

Put it on display in the courtyard of a school or shopping mall to demonstrate the dangers of buying an Intel...
