No connection

I was talking on im and browsing when my internet connection just shut off, I tried typing in my routers ip and I get no response. I restarted, and right after F@H would load everything would freeze. I eventually solved this but I am still getting no connection, I tried restarting the router, a new cable, a new port and I even tried on ubuntu, still nothing. I'm getting internet from my wireless however. I would try a new network card, but I don't have a spare at the moment. Any suggestions?

I was able to get a new card today, which solved the problem. The strange thing was that the old card's led lights still worked and showed it was active. My router also showed activity.
