I just bought this game (4 discs), what is so special about this game? I have played a few times, and found that Serious Sam is more fun. Is there any mods, or a few good missions/parts to look out for? I have never played UT before this.

Ok, is it Unreal or UT?

Unreal is a classic DM game, with a good single player.
UT is an awesome DM game with decent single player.
Both games were made to be modded. Try a net search.
I got Totally Unreal... It has Unreal gold, and Unreal Tournament (game of the year edition), and the other disc is a bunch of mods, and A preview for Unreal 2.
UT rocks you have to play it online!
Planetunreal.com should be enough to start whetting your whistle for mod, and paks :)
Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks SpeeDJ, most of the mods are already includes on the G.O.T.Y. Edition, I played online for a while... I had 1 kill to the 8 that I got killed...grrrr.

Don't worry, a few days worth of practice will put you up top. I guess that if you don't like it, you won't like it. Have you tried all the games types yet? Capture the Flag is pretty fun

I got this same game recently...(thanks ShadowÒÓ...now I really have no free time...hehehehe ;) ), and I've played around w/ it for a couple of weeks now. I've gotten to the end of a "Tournament", and I am at the last Match....
What in the name of ....how the...what the heck do I have to do to kill "XAN"?!?!?!?!?!? :confused:
I think I've tried every weapon to be found on that ship...and he still creams me regularly by scores ranging from 15- -5, to 15- +2. Best I've done, is kill him 6 times, but I got knocked off the ship a bunch of times that game....not a kill for him, but brings my score down...
Someone clue me in, please??? Eh?? :eh?:

Well for one thing he likes invisibility, and the flak cannon. Try and make sure you are the one getting the invisibility. And running and grabbing both the shield belt from the half moon section and the armor from between the two is not a bad idea. Run up on him and get in close and waste him with the flak cannon. You will take some hits for sure, but that is what the vials and the health are for. Listen to the sounds to. The sounds will tell you what is going on within the game IE Invisibility makes a sound when enabled. In order to get the invisibility you need to go up the ramp on either side after the half moon. It is in that hallway where you can get the Invisibility. Stick to running around, if you start taking hits turn around and run backwards. There aren't too many places to sit. Using the alt fire, the right mouse button is not a bad choice either. Xan takes time but you know when you are getting good because you will start to close the gap.

Unreal1 is just a so...so game in my opinion, but UT is by far one of the best online games to play.
BTW, Krome, you said you had the GOTY version, it does NOT have the latest updates. You still need the 436 update patch, GOTY is version 432, You also need the Bonus pack "4", more skins and maps in the bonus pack. You can get all of them at Planetunreal.com.

Actually totally unreal comes with the 436 patch, it's on the fourth cd, which also includes the Bonus pack 4 file. And there are alot of mods for UT, like Tactical ops that turns ut into a halflife style terrorism game.

The best way to kill Xan is to keep running, no joke. Always make a circle getting the weapons and the shield belt (before xan) and health vials. I never leave the inside of the ship for the rocket launcher, I personally feel the flak cannon is best on this level. When you see Xan always fire and backpedal and use the flak cannon around corners...bounce the shots off the walls.

oops, my bad, I thought he just had GOTY, now I see what the other cd's are for :D .
Mr B my roommate worked at Epic so I know how this game can kill ones free time! the xan character improves if you are doing well. he isn't like the other bots so if you are doing well he will improve this aim and prediction.
couple of questions?
are you whoring the sb, armor, inv?
are you getting the rocket launcher up top.
just so you know armor every 30seconds sb 60seconds and iinv 90seconds. just use flack or rocket if inside. and mini and shock combo if outside. keep trying adn aim for teh floor with many rockets.

Flak cannon off the walls, around corners....ahhhhhhhh. Interesting. I'll have to check that out.
I do try to get to the invisibility and shield belt before he does, but sometimes he just gets there first...(and I get wasted trying to race him down that hall for it...lol) Thanks for the info on times, el....I'll have to watch that one...good idea.
I'll check this stuff out tonight, if I can get to it...
Kepp the idea coming, in the meantime...any help is appreciated!! ;)

Why? Cheating suxs in my opinion.
BTW, is there a UT overclockers clan?
Wish but it is too hard to get everyone to play at the same time. I still want to challenge the Mods to a match. I think Shadow is really good and a couple of other Mods said they can play. we should try adn do it again.

Unreal 4 disk? my unreal is 1 disk and UT is 2 disk
Shadow is... *making sure he isn't looking* Ok... :) He usually let's you win, or so he will say. LOL But seriously, totally unreal comes with Four cd's the first two are UT, the third is Unreal Gold and Return to Nali, the fourth is a Preview disc with Unreal Championship and also some cool wallpapers made with UnrealII Screens. But also on the fourth cd is 436 Patch, the ModPack 4 and the Manuals.

Don't feel bad. I havent managed to beat Xan yet either.
I know it can be done, cause a friend of mine did it a couple
of times. I have restarted the tournament 4 times at
experienced mode, but still get killed by Xan.
Time for some more practice I guess....
Good thing I dont have a job.
Re: Cheating to beat Xan.
What would be the point of that ?
I only use God mode when I am playing single player and
want the bots to leave me alone while I summon some
monsters and junk.......

Whoring up on the armor...just so he doesn't get it, and the flak cannon, those were the keys.

YEEHAAA! Finally.... *whew* Now I can resume my life as usual. hehehe

Mr. B don't even try this I can beat people who worked on the game and I can't even bet Loque. he doesn't miss and you have to kill him before he gets a weapon. even with teh enforcer he is still a threat.
