Lap my 4800?

Is it worth lapping this nice new amd 4800 X2?

I'm about to W/C it so I put it in this section.

Looks like a big old surface area...how flat do they actually make them? and ...how thick is that top layer you think?

The cover is plenty thick for lapping. Be aware lapping voids all warranties.
Lapping will lower temps 1-5*c. 2*c if you're good with applying thermal compound, 5 if you're a kluts and learn to do it right. Lapping allows the use of a much thinner layer of compound since both surfaces are flat.

This my last post in this thread because it's gonna turn into a "flat vs shiney" war zone.
