I have an Abit KG7-R and I hear somewhere that you don't have to unlock Athlon XP's with this board; it will let you change the FSB and multipliers.
Any truth to this?
Any Comments?
I've got an Athlon 1.4 oc'd to 1640 right now and I have the opportunity to switch out for an Athlon XP 1600+. I'm wondering if I can expect to be able to overclock it at least as much. The bios lets me choose multipliers up to 13+ and FSB up to 200 and voltage up to 1.85.

Please leave comments and suggestions.

im pretty sure you can change the FSb even if the chip is locked, its the multipliers you can't change with a locked chip

It's the multiplier that I am wondering about. Somewhere I hear that this motherboard was capable of changing the multiplier on XP's without them being unlocked. I'm wondering if there is any truth to this.

You could, but AMD locked the multiplier so you can't, you have to go in manually and unlock it

Oh ya, to add, ive read quite a few articles, and unclocking the Athlon XP sounds like a major pain in the ass, unlike the TBirds
