Ok, i have spent about 800 on a computer and i still need to get a video card. I really want a bad@ss video card but i dont want to spend over 200$. This is my computer:

AMD 1.4Ghz
ABIT KG7 RAID
256meg DDR ram

What kinda card should i get? I can go a little over 200 if necessary, but i dont really wanna go over 220

Thanks,

for 225 i have seen the radeon8500 around, seems like the best bang for your buck-excellent 2D, Ti500 performannce (almost) and a low pricetag......or fr around 160 you can get a Geforce3 Ti200 whose performance isnt that far off, but is lacking in visual quality and 2D....the smoothvision looks beautiful on the 8500s while the AA on the Geforce3s are nothing new....

yes, but that is the OEM version, if you get an 8500 make sure to get the ATI retail clocked at 275/275 otherwise i suggest you get a Ti200...the OEMS are clocked at 250/250 and while they still beat the Ti200s the overclockability is severely limited and high quality Ti200 can overclock to hoigher speeds...

Checkout this review of Visiontek GeForce Ti cards, The Ti 200 looks like a great card for under $200. Better driver support than the Radeon;

well have to wait and see about the drivers, so far ATI has been releasing drivers every few weeks pretty much on the same pace as nvidia, and the newest set (check out review at anandtech/tomshardware/hothardware) look pretty solid both in performance and in stability......in fact, remember how long of a gap it was between when nvidia promised the Det4s and how long the Geforce3 owners had to wait to get an almost 50% performance boost?

actually it sayswhite box which means its OEM, i suggest you cancel your order, or if there is a restocking fee, it should be a fine card....nowhere does it say that its a retail....

why whould it say white box when OEM is used throughout the page? This doesnt make sence, this is the only place that i see them use the term whitebox. AHH, i hope this card is good.

dont worry, its a good card, and you still got a pretty good deal, and about the white-box its just a differnet name used to trivck people...
