This is comming from me, who "USED" to use Newegg as a great place to order parts for customer computers I build. It took me three shipments to come to this conclusion. Why? I have yet to get a shipment that I havent had to RMA. Newegg has great prices and finally has a decent selection of everything, but I cant take it anymore.

1 Mobo, 1 Duron 950, 1 20 gig Maxtor hdd, two 60gig IBM Deskstars (both from the same shipment), and a Gforce2MX 200- All have arrived D.O.A.

Three shipments in a row..
Not to mention that I had a 1.4 burn up on me and I RMAed it along the 20gig Maxtor and Duron and got a response from them telling me that those parts were no longer avaliable for replacement yet still listed on their site, which I had to reorder a day later..... WTF?

This has finally convinced my boss to hook up with a real Distro here in the state, ASI.

Beware...

I'm sorry that you had a couple bad experiences. Newegg sells a lot of merchandise and I'm sure that they are not able to test it before they send it out. I think that your problem should be with the manufacturer of the products your ordering.

I've used newegg many times and only had one problem which was taken care of promptly. They cross shipped. You will be lucky if you can get a lot of other vendors to RMA much less cross ship.

I've ordered from Newegg three times without a problem.

I've ordered from them several times as well.

Got my IBM Desktar 20GB, 8KHA+, 1.4TBird and some other stuff in just this past Friday. All works great and been up and running since then.

First time I ordered from them I had a little billing problem but it was taken care of and I decided to give them a second chance...they've followed through ever since. (Except for the refurb VH6-II I ordered that was whacked...get what you pay for though).

Newegg is a mass distributor of parts and I'd say you just got a bum deal. I've recommended them and still will recommend them. Hate that you had such a time with them though.

Newegg's reputation is fantastic, and their rating is very high at resellerratings.com...

I must say that your opinion of Newegg is not shared by the vast majority of people.

Yea, I was pretty sure no one else would have had any problems with them. Figures.. They have great stuff and prices and handle everything well, I just cant have my production line halted because of faulty parts, three shipments in a row. Its not fun telling a customer his computer will be a week late because I recieved dead parts from my distro.. Nor will I put up with them telling me the parts I want to RMA are no longer avaliable, yet, still sold and listed.. Just happened to be that the current prices were higher on the RMA parts than what I paid the first time... funny how that works.... I wonder why I couldnt get replacements..... And in the end, had to pay more to get the same part.. Sorry, dont have time to put up with it.... Seriously, an IBM Deskstar 60GX has a failure rate of 1 in ever 10^13.. And I got two......

We called up ASI and hooked up with them tuesday, and they had never heard of neweg, nor could they understand why I would recieve that many dead parts. Luckily, aside from being the biggest distro in the world, they are located two hours away in chicago, and have a nice showroom where we can play with stuff. Gives us a good reason to drive up to chicago once aweek. Hell, 30 bucks for gas, or 100 on shipping from california....

I dont want to give newegg a bad rep, but their quality is questionable..

I've ordered from newegg and had no problem. I also chose parts for my friend to build a computer with and I picked them all out from newegg, and they were all fine (Epox 8k7a mob; xp 1600; plextor 16x cd-rw; etc.)

I think that if you are producing computers for customers you are far better going with a local dist. No matter how good someone is on the other side of the country.

I've used newegg to buy almost all of my computer hardware and have had no problems to date. Although I did make another order on the 28th after they had closed and it still hasnt been shipped every other time I ordered from them the stuff shipped in less then 24 hours. I'm guessing one of the parts I ordered was sold out and not updated on the site or something. I did call and they just said it will be shipped ASAP that was today around noon. If the cpu wasnt in stock they could of let me know or just upgraded my order for free :D. It is annoying though because the billed my card before they even packaged the parts for shipment it would make sense to have all the parts in the cart before charging the customer but that is assuming the delay is from an out of stock part. Anyway they are very good this is the biggest problem I have had with them and if I wasnt so impatient it wouldnt even be a problem.

*update*

I just got the shipping notification I told you I was impatient :burn: !!

Ok just like every other time my packages arrived in three days with the fedex express shipping fees this place is the best by far. Oh ya and to boot both cpu's I've gotten from them were very good steppings one tbird 1.2 axia retail and one 800 duron akca oem.

I've placed several large orders from them without even one hickup. I even ordered two refurb'd mobo's with no problems at all. I give them 5 stars!

I've ordered maybe $1000 worth of stuff from them in the last year or so and have never had an issue. As a matter of fact whenever I place multiple orders they are the first to confirm, first to ship and first to arrive. Love Newegg.:)

NewEgg has been working out well for me also. I have ordered about 15 items from them and have had no problem so far. Their prices are good and the shipping is really quick. A buddy did have to rma a video card but the turn around time was pretty quick.

I ordered my mobo, cpu, DDR, and hd from them for the first time 2 weeks ago and I'm thrilled with their service.

No disappointment here.

Newegg is absolutely fantastic. I have bought a lot of hardware from them over the past year and have only had to RMA one motherboard. One out of eleven, not bad considering they are electronics and handled by fedex. They were quick with the RMA. Otherwise, they are fair with pricing, shipping and have a good product selection.

I think something is currently going bad with the shipping to you or its just bad luck. From what the majority of the overclockers say it sounds like one hell of a store.

It IS, order from them once and see if you don't get that good feeling. I'm telling you I have ordered from other sites and been fortunate but have never felt as good about ordering as I do from this site. The five step series that the order goes through, the ability to check at what step it is on at any time, the immediate confirmation, the notice of shipment, the rapid handling and quick shipping. They may not have the best (though not the worst by far) prices on the web but when I want/need it asap, they are my only choice as of this time.

I have to say, I just made my first two orders to newegg.com right before and right after Christmas and they were great with their communication and lightning fast on the delivery.

I've ordered from newegg several times and the service has been great. Silver I'm just curious what other sites can you get hardware cheaper? I thought the newegg prices were pretty good and they are better than most of the mwave prices.

Sometimes pricewatch, sometimes shopping around the net. Once you take shipping into consideration then newegg is often though not always cheapest. For peace of mind they are the cheapest.

A lot of times on pricewatch once you factor in the shipping you can get it for less elsewhere. a stick of generic 128 pc133 sdram is $17 but shipping is $11 which is crazy.

The 1.4 T-bird I'm run AYJHA came from them and is working for me fairly well. Presently running under stability test while I'm on the internet at 2.33v at 1.774 and 43c.

And ain't that a fact. Order a fan because you need one and the shipping is more than the fan. Better order more stuff...or maybe that is the plan.:)

yes some prices are higher than mwave and some cheaper. a friend of mine just ordered around $200 worth of merchandise and the difference between mwave and newegg was $2. i use mwave exclusively and speak very highly of them. i probably ordered 2 doz. times and have never had a problem. just my 2 cents...

I like mwave too. I order about 40mwave/40newegg/20other.
Both Newegg and Mwave have been very good overall.
Used to order from buy.com but their prices have been a bit over the top for the last year or so.

I've ordered from them 7 times without incident. You just had bad luck like everyone does at one time or another with ANYONE. Should we go bash Ragu or Wonderbread because ONE loaf of their bread or one can of sauce was bad? Wait maybe we should bash their shippers, or the clerks who put the items on the shelves... or oh my gosh what if it got jostled too much in the cart as you shopped! Maybe we should sue the cart makers for making their carts not have padding!

hehe :D!

I ended up not ordering the processor from Newegg. I was looking for the Celeron 1.1, and they were out of stock at Newegg for a few days. When I was alerted that they had them again, they had raised the price like $12! I ordered the processor for $85 at Googlegear.com. Just got it today.

Processor is pending no more. Now I have to see what it will OC at. Yeehaa!!
