View Full Version : What about more than one radiator?

Just a random question to throw out that I may try to implement soon since my rent is dropping by half next month:D

Lets say I get a new case that has enough room to fit a 120mm outtake fan and blackice radiator in the back near the cpu and another 120mm outtake fan and blackice radiator in a hole cut in the top of the case.

In order to keep the cfms controlled, I mount a 120mm intake fan at the lower front and a 120mm intake fan on the side by the pci and agp slots.

Now how much of a boost in performance do you think you could get with two radiators run in serial? Or perhaps parallel to get the water to move slower through them would be better...

I have never done any water cooling, but thought this would work out very well especially if I decide to add peltier cooling on the cpu and water cooling on the gpu.

What do you all think?

Oh, and are the serck or big momma radiators easy to mount onto a 120mm fan and a case?

EDIT: ooh, blackice extreme...sounds spiffy...

I would choose to run them in parallel. You are going to reduce your flow resistance this way on the reservoir end of things, and should be able to get a higher flow rate through the rest of your system. Each reservoir (all things being equal) will see half the flow rate, which will be less than what your single reservoir would be seeing now. A higher flow rate through your waterblock should help cool things a little more. The performance may be limited by other restrictions in your system depending on where most of your flow resistance is showing up, so it may or may not be worth the extra investment.
