For a LONG time I've been out of the running for any kind of folding. I sold all my big rigs and ended up with my older, slower, 433s...
I had a few borged, but they're not usually on long enough to fold any WUs.
So now I introduce my new rig. :-D
Mobo- MSI 865PE Neo3-F
RAM- Kingston Valueram 1.5gb dual channel kit x2 (2.62gb total)
Video- Radeon 9600 Pro 256mb
Sound- SoundBlaster Live! 24-bit
HDD- Barracuda 7200.7 (200gb)
Optical- Memory DVD-RW DL 16x
Proc- 3.4ghz P4 with HyperThreading
She's a beast. And hopefully she'll put out a few WUs. Though I wonder... should I be running two instances? Or just leave it at one and let the proc distribute the load?
welcome back!
from what I understand about HT, 1 for scientific research side of it, 2 instances for the pointage. stanford said something along the lines that doing one at a time was better on their side of things....I dunno....
welcome back!
Huh.
Well I stuck it back on, and am only seeing it suck down 50% of the processor. And I have it at 100% priority. I might install two and see what they do.
(Never used an HT or Dual Core processor with FAH before, can ya tell? Heh)

Wedo has a 1-click for HT & Dual cores.
Best thing since sliced bread.

Been a while since I have seen you folding! AND posting here..
Welcome back!
:welcome: back :)
On most normal wu's you will likely get about 25% more points running 2 instances on your ht p4, which in my mind justifies running 2.
don't think there are any wu's around these days that really change that too much.
One historical exception was the qmd who's bandwidth requirements made ht perform best with only 1 instance but there aren't any these days, nor likely to be without some notice given by stanford.
Some of the 14xx wu's like large cache sizes, so running 2 of those is probably not as good as 1 with perhaps a less cache intensive wu on the other instance.
I am running fewer HT p4's these days as i have been converting to DC's, but i am running 2 instances on the remaining prescotts.
Yea, though I noticed that EMIII said I was folding the same WU on both instances, which was weird.
I have to check the logs and see if, in fact, I got the same WU for both instances. And if that's the case, I get to have fun configuring it! :-D
Thanks for the welcome back, guys. I left for other reasons than being unable to fold. But I think I may stick around just for the folding. After all, it's my calling in life. ;-) Well, that and being a cop.
Don't worry about having too much fun configuring fah well help.
And welcome back!
Was my own fault. It was folding both instances under machine ID 1 ... so of course it got the same WU for the same machine.
Switched over and she's folding at full mast now. :-)
