Intel D975XBX Bad Axe, Scythe Ninja, and 2gb sticks of DDR2?

is anybody using this combo? Will the Ninja fit on the D975XBX? ... if so, will the HSF fan be positioned on the front of the heatsink and point toward the case exhaust (the back of the case)?

I'm sick of waiting for AMD to cut the 2xx opteron prices so I'm thinking of building a Conroe system with the D975XBX board and I have a couple of Ninjas already lying around which were destined for my long overdue dual 940 upgrade so I won't have to buy another HSF... if I can help it :p

cheers:beer:

you can mont the fan on either of the 4 sides and even use some rubberbands or string for running a push/pull. after seeing the board there is nothing in the way that would cause problems using the ninja.

thanks for the reply!

I'm going with the P180B, so the CPU location on the mobo is in the uppermost portion of the case which has a 120mm blowhole in addition to the 120mm exhaust so that should give my Conroe plenty of air.

2GB sticks of DDR2??

is anyone out there running 2gb sticks of DDR2 in thier Conroe boards? It seems such RAM is hard to find, at least per retailer....:bang head I'll be using this rig for 3d work and will be running xp64 so I'd like to be able to max out the D975XBX with 8gb's of memory...

I've found this:
#PSD24G533K -- Patriot Signature DDR2 4GB (2 x 2GB) CL4 PC2-4200 (533MHz) 2 Rank DIMM Kit

... will this ram destroy all hopes for a decent overclock with a 6700? If I can get to at least 3.2ghz on this stuff ~ I'd probably be happy:beer:
