E6400 in da HOUUUUUUSE!
I'm going to run some screen shots of tests on the Asrock so I can demonstrate a bit of how it overclocks with the Allendales and the difference in AGP and PCIexpress on this wonderful budget board.
There were a few hiccups at first, but it turned out to just be issues with the Intel fan. (I'm not brave enough to try my water cooler again just yettttt...)
Any links to Pcmark and 3dmark while I put all my cards back in?

Yes it is quite an interesting board. Have fun. :)

Thanks both of you :)
I really missed you guys... especially you two.
Right now all I have is Aquamark. I'll download 3DMark and then I should be back in business.
I defintely want to see how far you can OC that thing. I have a friend that may be getting that combo and be nice if it could hit 2.6-2.8 on it.

Well they SAY the max is 300... read 2.4ghz. We'll just see about that. First I gotta get it to recognize my ram at the correct speed.
Andatech has a whole series of articles on the board that you might want to check out.

Dude, did your mom send you the PCI card? I would expect the ASRock to behave just like its big brother ASUS. :)
I wouldn't be suprised if the bios was made to limit the FSB so it doesn't compete with the higher end boards.

..and read it somewhere that ASRock is a sister company or subsidiary of main holding "ASUS International". :)

I think she just picked it up today. Thanks :) I should be getting it soon.
I have the asrock board now so I can use it with my 9600 pro until my DS3 comes back from the shop.
As for the Asrock... I'm POSITIVE it's the bios limiting the FSB. The onboard components are actually quite impressive and I'd love to see what the Via chipset is actually capable of. There are alternate bioses I intend to check out once the DS3 arrives. Now I'm just happy to be back up and stable.
Just upgraded to 1.50, but if you'll go to Asrock's website you'll notice they update the thing like once a week!
One thing... Anybody know the difference between Intel thermal control and Speedstep? I thought thermal control WAS speedstep because it would change the voltage and CPU speed until I turned it off in bios 1.10 but then when I upgraded to 1.50 it had that option AND speedstep...

Interesting to say the least.
Some info from the asrock site on this motherboard.
3. Untied Overclocking : During Overclocking, FSB enjoys better margin due to fixed PCIE/ PCI Buses

TM = Thermal Management and trust me, you don't want this to kick in since it means your CPU is almost toasted from over temp ! :)
SpeedStep is just proactive power management by varying the multiplier to get low power consumption. Heavily used in laptop/mobile cpu families.
For OCing, you should disable SpeedStep

Yeah I was having issues with that... The damned Intel fan!
You've got to remember I'm coming from An AMD Athlon (Errhmm..> Sempron) 2600+ and I haven't used an Intel processor in ten years! They really had me going for a while...
All is good now though. Seems stable enough for cake.
Oh... and a LINK!

Seems somebody's already done my AGP vs. PCIexpress work for me... Sigh...
At least I can come back with some screen shots of AGP vs. AGP performance pitting this board against the legendary A7N8X-E Deluxe.

bah.
hows your foot? lol
Got enough RAM for DDR1 vs DDR2 tests by any chance? :D
Do you have some DDR and DDR2 ram? I'd like to know if you can run both at same time and how it reacts. Also, hell can you run both video cards at same time and get quad monitor?

To answer both you and Gautum...
I have two Corsair 512mb 6400 DDR2s and one questionable Samsung 512mb DDR. They ran THAT check on Andatech FIRST. I forget the results but here you go:
http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2810
And "No." You absolutely can NOT run DDR and DDR2 at the same time. Big red warnings all over the instruction book. Something about the end of time. I think it's going to be on a Thursday...
I believe they had similar warnings for trying to run AGP and PCIexpress at the same time. I wouldn't have enough monitors to test that anyway...
Gautum can attest to how pretty the Asrock bios looks. I really wish the DS3 bios looked like that. Some weird quirky features... I have no IDEA what my ram speed is right now. For some odd reason when I switched to DDR2 667 it stopped showing ram frequency and ratio. No idea why.

It was feeling better earlier. I estimate another week before I'm up to 75 percent. Which is still record time. Thanks for asking :)
