Hi, ive been checking on newegg for a nice motherbaord that support SLI and Core 2 Duo. I've readed alot of reviews and founded everyone is complaining about any motherbaord, so im not really sure; here what i plan to use in my system:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6400

260$

memory

230$

and a Geforce 79xx (not yet decided)

im ready to pay up to 280$ for a motherbaord, any recommandations?

P5WDH can work with SLi but you need hacked drivers, not hard to find.
I haven't seen any results out of the Asus P5NSLI nForce 570 SLi board but thats the only Core 2 Duo board I know of right now that is SLi certified.

Or you can just wait until Core 2 Duo boards are released with the nForce 590 chipset.

If you choose not to go SLi I suggest getting a P5B-Deluxe it will run 500fsb+ stock, which will allow you to overclock that E6400 to its full potential.

any 975x mobo will do sli, like epox4life said look for hacked drivers.

now you say hacked drivers... for the chipset or video driver? becuase i am in the same boat i am about to buy a new C2D system and i want a good intel chipset but none of the so far officially support SLI.

if the board supports CF then it also supports SLI. The problem is NV has set code in drivers that says if chipset does not = NV whatever, then sli does not work. all this is over at xs with coolar running a DFI 975x with sli even with benchmarks too.

actually me and a few others here have been saying for a while that hacked drivers are needed for SLI on 975x.

also see here with a ATI mobo doing SLI (xpress 3200)

ahhhhh i c... so is there any performance hit running an sli setup on a non certified dual 16x slot board compared to a sli certified board?

also where are these hacked drivers?

no, no hit but the draw back is the hacked drivers are rather old i do think they are 8x.xx, why not just PM coolaler over at xs? I dont have a clue but to ask him.

The drivers are just not futuremark aproved (as the author of the hack has the only furturemark appoved ones)
If your not conserned about being able to post ORB scores, the hacked ones that are floating around out there will be fine..
One word of caution, the author did NOT make these publicly availbe and is rather miffed about it, dont expect hacked drivers for newer then 7900 series cards to be availble in the future unless NV desides to enable official SLI support on intel chipsets.
btw. coolaler had to agree not to give them away when they were given to him, I kind of doubt he will be handing them out.

greenmaji, I want to know what your sig means, since my new build consists of many ultra products.
because a while back radioshack and other e-tailers had ultra psu's for like 29.99 with either 10 or 20 dollar MIRs. the ultra psu's are really cheap and can kill your parts in your rig. i see smoke in your future.

I think buying a cheap psu was your problem. The X2 connect I have got good reviews and shouldn't have any problems.
i hope your not talking to me as no where in my sig is there a ultra psu. Nor would i ever buy such a horrible psu for any of my rigs.

If that PSU isnt tested by jonny then im not buying what your saying.

The pw5 dh seems to be the most popular sli board, if you want to go for sli. I don’t think sli, or xfire is really needed at the moment. Get a decent card to tide you over until direct x10 cards come out, they are looking to be much better because of unified shader modeling. Even the newest cards now will be a generation behind in about a year and a half, so Imho it’s a bad investment.

Whatever, I know my ultra psu isn't going to smoke because I didn't pay $10 for it. Anyway, on with the thread, as I still need a core2duo mobo.

As soon as one of these are released, I'm getting them. It looks like pure awesome made into a motherboard.

google JonnyGuru
look for a review of your PSU on his site..

His review of Ultra-X connect isnt too golden..

there are a few Ultra PSU's that have a decent OEM, in general. I would just avoid them but if your lucky you might have a PSU thats as good as a enthermax (not exactly the best PSU in the world but certianly not a fire starter like other Ultra PSU's)

Unless you want to use hacked, unsupported drivers (which may or may not be available as revisions change)...

From my research, your best bet is P5N32-SLI Deluxe SE. I know the original P5N32 had a lot of problems but I believe many of them have been worked out, and if you want Conroe with SLI support, this is probably the best choice, or wait for 590.
