View Full Version : Temperature differences?

I just popped up Asus Probe (I know it sucks, but everything else gives the exact same results), and I noticed there was a HUGE diiference in my temperatures.

MB: 24C
CPU: 55C

Is there supposed to be that much of a difference? I've got an SK6 with a Delta (it's going 7584rpm, an 80mm for out in the back, and a 60mm in the front for bringing air in).

Motherboard temps will always be cooler than your CPU temps. With an SK6, your temps are pretty high. At idle, there should only be about a 5 - 10c degree difference. Check to make sure that the SK6 is mounted properly, and not hung up on the CPU sockets front lip.

how recently did u install the Sk6, i just installed a 80mm fan on my Glaciator with a 60 to 80mm adaptor and bootee up at bout 53c, defaulst speed, as opposed to the 32c i am used to. Well i was liek wtf, so i reapplied thermal grease still same temps, welll i had clip backwards and not getting good pressure. maybe try to remout the HS and reapply thermal grease. But yes Asus probe ususlly reads about 10c over on every board

That temp is too high for the cpu. Either the probe is way off, or your hsf is not making good contact.

The comp may not be crashing, but the life of the cpu is being drained away at high temps. Sure, they are cheap, but 20 bucks is 20 bucks

Make sure the Delta is plugged into the power supply instead of the mobo. You won't get to monitor it of course through Asus Probe, but it draws too much power to use on the mobo from what I have been told. I put all my fans save 1 on the psu directly and that was because I couldn't get it connected to the psu directly.

See my specs below. My temps usually differ by 15 degrees C from mobo to CPU.
