Just a quick question,
At what temperature should I start to be concerned about my Athlon XP 1900+?

It runs at around 44C right now under full load.

Thanks,
Mal

Under load, that is a good temp, nothing to worry about. When your temps start getting over 50c then you need to look into better cooling, and when above 60c then start worrying.

Hi Mal

Great Temps. with your XP1900+

How about you show your set up including case, fans etc. the whole 9 yards.

There will be a lot of interest as to what you are using.

Actually if that temp is so good your not gonna believe this...

I just got all the pieces for the box so I havent done any mods yet (but I will! hehe)...

Earlier when I posted those temps my setup was:

Supercase (generic brand I think, its a full tower with 6 5.25 bays, 2 open 3.5 bays and 4 more closed 3.5 bays (for HDs and stuff ya know))
Got 1 80mm fan blowing in the bottom front
2 more 80mm fans blowing out the back top of it
the AthlonXP 1900 is attached to a temporary Thermaltake Volcano 6u HSF (suppose to be 7000rpm fan)

Now, with the above stup I was running at around 39c idle and around 44c under full load (I wrote a quick and dirty C app to inflict massive amounts of load on the cpu, it seems to work).

OK, heres what really amazed me:
On the way home I stopped at the local shop and bought one a generic 120mm fan and used some yarn (thread, string, whatever) to hang it next to the volcano unit blowing directly on it. After firing it up and letting it sit for a minute it is running at a nice 32c (wow)... I haven't tested load temps yet as I just reinstalled XP but I'll repost when I get my utils back installed.

Mal

PS. These temps are with both sides of the case off btw, I'm assuming they will go up at least a little when I put em back on but that won't happen until I install the water cooling system so it won't matter anyway :)

Hey the yarn is cool but try this next time you want to test fan placement. Get yourself a cheap hot melt gluegun. You can hang fans anywhere if the results are bad peal off the glue leaves no lasting marks, and if it works it'll stay there as long as you like.
