I have a 775 Dual-Vista motherboard with a Intel core 2 duo 6400 processor. Im looking to upgrade my video card due to a faulty video from my 9700pro(would flicker and loading games would crash after transfering it over from my dell 8250, I had to stick my older comps geforce 3 for it to work properly for the time being lol). I was wondering..what would be a better, faster upgrade? If I got a 7900gt card(256mb) running at the PCI-E x 4 or a 7800gs AGP(256mb), I know I would get the extra benefits of the 7900gt(graphic wise) but would the performance actually be a slower more noticeable difference in speed than lets say a 7800gs or even a 6800gs AGP(was thinking of that and a cooler also). Im looking to spend around 150-270$ roughly for a pretty noticeable upgrade from a 9700pro in both gaming and maybe video/dvd/divx files.

Don't even bother getting an AGP card, you won't be able to re-use it if you decide to swap to a higher-end mobo. Also the current-generation AGP cards tend to cost more than their PCI-E counterparts because the cards are designed for PCI-E natively. There's just not any reason whatsoever to buy a new AGP card.

Why would it run the pci-e card in 4x that mobo looks like it has a normal slot that would run at 8x or 16x. To bad you missed the woot (http://www.woot.com/) I would prob get a 6800gs, x800gto2, or 7600gt in the bottom of that price range or a x1800gto2 or 7900gt more towards the top of that price range.
