front page question

I have always wondered this

but why no pictures on the front page. I know some of the news is hard to put a photo up but if its about a product or a company would it hurt bandwith that much to put up a little jpg infront of each story so users can scan through faster?

Are you referring to the articles, because here's one that's still on the front page that is full of pics?

IMO, the more relevant pictures the better for articles.
