I am NEW to this so......

My problem: I purchased an abit kt7a mobo w/amd 1g cpu
both are 266 capable. In setup it says:

CPU speed 1000(133)
Multiplier x7.5
Fsb 133
Fsb plus 0

Core volt ?

I can't remember core voltage(maybe 1.5) I won't know until I shutdown. This is a new system and I am working out some bugs.

When I boot the post says:----> Athlon running @ 750mhz...
This should be 1000!:( I have upgraded the bios, no help....

Any suggestions? Could the bios be wrong? Was I sent the wrong cpu?

Hi Tony,

Looks like your FSB is running at 100 MHz (200DDR). I don't know with your particular motherboard but is there a jumper on your board to change the default FSB from 100 ro 133? Is there a function in the bios that says cpu clock/frequency? If so, double check to make sure it's at 133 and save. It shoudl then post at 1GHz :)

Thanks for your reply, I will look for a jumper.

BTW, how do you like the abit sound system? Just curious, I
have a SBLive 5.1 w/real cheap speakers(2)!!!!

I like it. It's the ~$105USD version (i paid $169 CDN), it came with 5 sat. speakers, a sub, a sound card and a remote control. I use it mostly to watch DiVX, MP3 and gaming. The sound is clear and does AC-3 and DTS (but not real decoding). In DiVX like Indepence Day and The Matrix the sound is pretty good and i was actually surprised when i first heard them because of the price i paid. Is it sure not as good as a real home theater system or even SoundBlaster5.1/DTT3500 but it's really good and affordable. It also does real 5.1 channels in DiVX (well, those ripped from a DVD at least) so i assume it would be pretty good with a DVD-ROM.
