Well, my 7900GT is supposed to run at 500/1500, but coolbits and rivatuner both report 500/750. Is there any reason why they are reporting speeds half as fast for the memory?

Thanks.

750x2=1500

Keep in mind that the memory runs in dual-channel mode, therfor doubling the speeds(mem only) Coolbits lists in the video properties page.

LOL that is NOT dual channel mode. DDR is able to utilize both sides of its clock signal effectively doubling the speed of the RAM so 750Mhz ram equals 1500Mhz.

man, i hate reading posts like this. no offense to mr robotto, or anyone else tat doesn't know. but please read the forums before you make a post. there are thousands of threads on this ddr matter. but then again they do delete threads that are older. so i could be wrong. someone needs to make a sticky about this. title should be: "Mems speed reading half? Then look here!"
then it could be avoided. but yea it's right.

I felt so stupid the first time I asked the same question. Stupid dual channel crap. You can set rivatuner to show the dual channel amount I believe.

rivatuner show the effective speed for me, not the actual clock, so yeah you can.
