Can be had at intel.com I have been reading more on this with some good some bad reviews. Its the new ide drivers vers # 7 I think and is said to reduce boot time and apps loading times.Seems p4's running w2k are getting big gains in performance http://support.intel.com/support/chipsets/iaa/

I'm getting it right now..

Chief have you tried it, what are your outcomes?

Bah it said it wouldn't conitnue because it was only compatible with Intel-800 series, and above.

I've been using it for awhile and its awesome.

Ive heard a few people having probs with it but I havent had any problems and its a great app

I havent tried it thats why I was asking if others have, no need to try something if others have and they find it to be junk.My system is working great with the chipset drivers that came with the disc so....

Hey Silversinksam,

What improvements did you notice? Did you run any benchmarks? Did it take away the ability to check and uncheck DMA on your IDE drives? If so did you run any drive tests to see if they are running faster with the new IAA installed?

I didnt do any before/After benchmarking but there was a noticable improvement in speed.

I'll tell you what, I have a spare freshly reformatted hard drive.

What Ill do is a Clean install and run some benchmarks and repeat the process with the Application accelerator. What Benchmarks besides SisoftSandra Pro and 3dmark would you like me to run?

Just give me a day or two as I need to eat some Turkey tomorrow

Hey if Turkeys ruled the World things would be like this:

Almost forgot, When and if you upgrade to Win XP UNINSTALL the intel application accelerator and after you have installed XP, reinstall the intel application accelerator, if you dont you wont get it to run correctly and be plagued with error messages.

i'll try to run the Benchmarks on Win 98se and XP for you people.

Also its possible to lose the DMA checkbox But if you use the diagnostic utilitie you can make the DMA box reappear.

By default the Intel application accelerator disables DMA but using the Devise manager lets you set DMA to enabled

When I installed the ata drivers from the disc (v 5.01) I lost the dma box but the drivers will set the drive speed to its fastest mode. All apps I have confirms that my HD is running in mode 5 but ss score for HD dropped 340 points from 24340 to 24000 after installing 5.01. The readme for the Intel AA does say if you unistall it the DMA box will not be put back as before.

So Chief, that is a good reason to try to do a Restore rather than an uninstall assuming you are running XP. If it works your system should be back to normal the preinstall state. I haven't seen any documentation that proves it does.

And SSSAm, what diagnostic utility are you speaking of when you write about regaining the DMA box? Is it packaged with the Intell AA??

really nifty utility :burn:
It shaves about 20 secs. off my desktop load time :D

I love this topic,,,It appears like intell needs software to help there processors along.U want fast boot times from them intells {dont shut them off LMAO,LMAO..................

Next we will see a program that actually forces the Intell P-4 processor to do more work per clock cycle.Wait there is something that does that

I think the program is called AMD,,,,,,,LOL,,,LOL............

SSSAm,

Did you ever run the benchmarks?

Thanks.
