The only place you will find is dell or ebay, no other retailers can sell them. The lowest it goes on dell is 369.

I agree, I had to negotiate with the Dell small business customer service people to get mine for $352 shipped. At the time I saved $85

Getting it for $340 max is a tough order via Dell or any retailer. As crfracer290 said, you may need to go to Ebay to get it for that, and you risk getting a revision A00 or even worse, as Ebay is not without it's risks.

Awhile ago there was a glitch in dells system that made the price of the 2007fpw 160 without coupons. Due to this error someone over on [H]forum created a program that would alert you to any major changes in prices on any dell monitor. If you can wait awhile to get the monitor it may be worthwhile to look for the program. BTW it can alert you via aim or email when prices change.

I will never forget that deal as I missed it by about 5 mins and even saw the price but didn't get my order in before they updated the price, and yes dell honored it. Search [H]forums [H]otdeals section the program is somewhere in there.

I want this monitor because of the S-Video and Composite inputs. How is the quality when hooked up to a DVD player via S-Video? If its as good as a tube TV i'll take it,if its bad i'll save up for the gateway for $499.

Unless you really really want the HDCP support (and the new stand ;) ), go for a 2005FPW, I love both of mine, and I got 'em for $300 shipped each :D (at the forums, of course). You could always save $100 and get a Benq ($285 shipped at the Egg I believe), and you can always buy an input device or something similar separately.

[this is all second hand info from a very reliable source]

Small business has more flexibility with pricing. Dell changed the rules a couple months ago and the home reps don't have the ability to mark down items like they used to, and even the small business people are pinched. It's not until you get into the medium to large business class that you have any 'power' to negotiate. One thing Dell IS doing right is keeping their accessories prices relatively low, with frequent sales and the occassional coupon deal. Even the authorized Dell resellers are having a hard time getting good pricing.

ok well seeing as how I deal with dell every single day let me clear up a couple of things

ALL dell departments can discount down to bare minimum, they are not susposed to go below a certain margin but small orders (under 5k) get in blow the radar. The question is finding a rep that will work with you. to do that you keep working the phones as much as possible and just keep going back into the phone queue until you connect with a rep that will work with you

the only Dell division that is under close scrutiny is the reseller division.
