View Full Version : Oh Ram Gurus...Share your opinions pls
Hey folks,
I have been wanting to go to a 2x1GB ram set. My current rig is in my signature (soon to be adding second graphics card for SLi).
I am looking for a set of Ram that will run high bus speeds (300 MHz) like DDR 600 speeds or close to it....the ram should not require alot of voltage (3v or less)....and of course the tighter the timings the better.
So what product is available which meets my desires...or am I just asking for teh holy grail in 2x1GB sets?
All of your thoughts and suggestions will be appreciated greatly.
how about this set: http://www.tankguys.biz/team-xtreem-cronus-25448-pc4000-infineon-p-1545.html?osCsid=5915098a61d1d2bdb53c89d2df6fe20a anyone know if these work well with an asus a8n32-SLi deluxe?? they appear to nearly meet my requirements...I can live with 250 (DDR 500)....perhaps they will OC a bit too  ...anyone have experience with these sticks?

from what ive been able to read in various forums and from my experience trying to get a 2x1gb kit stable for an extended period of time @ 300mhz with ddr1 it isnt as elusive as the holy grail but it can be frustratingly close if you dont have a decent amount of memory to go through.
I havent used the kit you provided a link to but Ive used a couple 2x1gb kits based off uccc memory and had some pretty good results with it. I had a kit of mushkin xp pc5000 and a couple kits of the g.skill hz 2x1gb pc5000 and was able to get between 262-282 with those kits with 3-3-3 timings and might be worth looking into.

There are no 2 x 1gig DDR600 kits available (2 x 512 . . .Yes http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=112734 ). To OC 2 gigs to DDR600 is an extreemely lofty goal. Your best bet would be some TCCD. Team Group's http://www.teamgroup.com.tw/ sticks (available from Tank Guys) are pretty good.
4 x 512. . . don't go there, though some with DFI boards have done it.

I know the difficulty I am up against which is why I felt the Teamgroup Cronus (Infineon ICs) were the best shot.....begining at DDR500 with default timings of 2.5-4-4...i figure with some effort they could reach DDR600 ....perhaps with 3-4-4 (maybe dreaming).
Anyways....I found this set on newegg...it is quite expensive though: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145028.....DDR550 but $$$$

RD,
That's pretty expensive RAM not knowing for sure if it's going to make DDR600. I don't know specifically what your Asus board will but out in vdimm but I'll bet to get DDR600 with those RAMS the vdimm is going to go sky high real quick.
If you buy it and it doesn't work you're going to take a "hit" on restocking fees. Is it worth it to you?
Rolling Thunder....
I will not buy the corsair set...very expensive....just used the link as an example of a 2x1GB set that was close to DDR600 at default values. I am liking the Team Group Cronus set but they are not in stock at TankGuys...everything local (Tokyo) is way expensive...the set of ram at TankGuys is $249...but here it is 38,000 Yen...roughly $380 ( abit less but close enough).
Anyways...I am just trying to find a GREAT set of 2x1GB ram. I do have some hesitation with the Team ram because according to their wedsite they only tested it on DFI boards from what I can tell.
EDIT: And before anyone comes in here and trys to tell me just use a divider on the ram...I don't want to. I know there is virtually no performance loss with A64s when using a divider.

Anyway, if you're a gammer, memory speed doesn't matter that much...If you're a bencher, just get 2 x 512.
If you're both, get both and switch. Life IS hard!

So how does your set of team group ddr600 do in your a8n32? Do you have the 2x1GB or the 2x512? ....

Team Xtreen TXDR512M600HC25, That's 2 x 512. I am not aware of any DDR600 2 x 1gig available anywhere.
