View Full Version : Suggestion on Cooling
I never really worried about cooling, but now that im getting into overclocking and using faster processors that require more voltage and such, im curious what is a good cooling method (other than the case fans it comes with) that I can put inside the computer, and to add to that not expensive (as in not more than $150.00)

I see your looking for some advice. I see people with 0 replys and I feel they need some help. I would personally got with the all new copper heat sink and fan. It is called the thermal right sk-6. I have it and I love it. I wouldn't suggets going with the delta high output even though it says to get it if you r a big overclocker. It is very loud and you wontr have a problem with the fan. It has 70 little fins. Very effective and will cost about 50 bucks in all. Very cheap these days. Way less than 150. And some watercooling cases are less than that but you have to rig it and it looks crappy. You can make your own reservoir but then It gts in the wya and you have to have a place to store the water. Some people use a very samll reservoir like a pepsi can but it doesn't work that well. Good luck.

Thanks appreciate the advice
Or for a little more money you can buy the king of the hill, the Swiftech 462. Not overclocking and at idle, I run at 11 C over ambient with this puppy. And no other air cooled hsf can beat the cooling power

and if you have alot of time you could probably make a good watercooling system for under 150$, but that take alot more reading and it beats all aircooled heatsinks if constructed right.

Sorry, but the Swiftech isn't the "king of the hill" any longer. Greater air cooling power can be provided:
Alpha 8045!
Take a look here:

And the Alpha is also cheaper :D
Go for the Swiftech MCX462. It's the upgraded version of the MC462.
This is the new MCX462 with the ribbed pins

This is the old MC462 with the smooth pins

Take a look at Recommended Heatsinks (http://www.overclockers.com/articles373/) list at the main page.
hmmmm, in that heatsink review the "wing" caught my eye 2 60mm fans. Math has never been my strong suit but 60+60=120 no? why not stick a 120 fan on it blowing down it could also cool the compasitors around the socket at the same time, just a thought might be a tad quieter too.
