Hey,

Two years ago, my parents bought a Compaq Presario 2100. It currently has 256 MB of generic PC 2100 RAM in it. I used the crucial memory scanner and it suggested upgrading the laptop with a 256 module of PC 2700.

"Crucial recommends this 200-pin SODIMM DDR PC2700 module, or you can view the full list of upgrades compatible with your Standard HP - Compaq Presario 2100 Series."

On Ncix, they have this for sale.

Will this be compatible with my laptop?

Check to see that you can use 512mb modules in that machine.

The crucial scanner tells me that the laptop will accept 512 modules. The manual for the laptop says that the laptop is made to use DDR 266 modules, but the crucial scanner says that it can handle DDR 333. No mention is made in the manual about the size of the modules.

I've got a 512mb PC2700 you can have no charge. It's a pull from my new Acer laptop. I'm upgrading it to 2gb and have replaced on of the 512's already. PM me if you're interested. I just don't need it hanging around collecting more dust.
