E6400 Core 2 Duo - What is a good alternative heatsink that is better than the stock, yet not expensive or real big, kinda the same size as the stock, but better.

Hmmm many of the new heatsinks are bigger, this is part of what makes them more effective then stock... With that said: here are a couple smaller in size heatsinks/

You misunderstood me, I need a replacement for the stock heatsink, but not bigger. This cpu setup will be stock speed and not overclocked, so I don't need it to be that good of quality and thus heavy to actually use a back place. Seomthing simple like the stock heatsink, but at least a tad better in performance. Any idea's with this in mind? I know there are some, just don't know which one will work with this cpu since frequencies are different and heat wise too.

talk about limiting then why not just get one of those water kits?
if you have a 80mm fan mount near the back for $64 and much better then z-8000
http://www.svc.com/rl-mua-e8u1.html

for a 120mm fan mount its $89

Sup dude, we meet again. It so happens I am building another e6400 and gigabyte combo like my other thread for another friend. It so happens that all my friends don't know anything about computers, so I am building this computer at stock speed again. I did notice the last time with the stock heatsink, that the temps kinda sucked, so I was looking for a cheap way of changing that and not making the computer different. I don't want a big, heavy, heatsink for it, just something simple. If it was me, of course I would go with the best.

If not overclocking, then the stock heatsink should work fine. If it didnt keep the CPU cool enough at stock speeds, then im postive they wouldnt include it as the stock heatsink. Just stick some Artic Silver Ceramique on there instead of the stock TIM and it should help a lot

changing the tim is not going to help the stock sink that much. Some people are more noise sensitive then others and the stock sink can get loud.

not much, what thread was it? temps on stock sinks always suck unless you get a dell. they always have really good temps for the low noise that they are.

on another note for not being big yet it was missed and its only $22.95

That heatsink is roughly 130x120mm. The XP90s are smaller.

At the OP, the Arctic Freezer Alpine is about the smallest, but why even bother with it....

Evilsizer, it was the thread "Battle of Stock Dual Core's - Who wins?" Anyways, thanks for the replies and I will make my choice from the above recommendations. Have to place this order in tonight.

The stock cooler is more than sufficient. Im running 2.8Ghz (and testing) right now and I think my temps are around ~33c idle and not sure on load.

well as i did not notice that sharka computers has the cnps-8000 for $37, this is the cheapest you will get it. had i noticed this before i would have told you off the bat to get it. First time i have seen sharka computers, added to my BM now.

compared to the others you listed not much bigger and is much smaller then hr-01/ultra-120/BT/Ninja/TT coolers. It was just another suggestion, but the xp90 for about the same price is better and smaller yes. Just tring to give him options so he can chose what might/will fit his needs.

i would love to see a ss of your load temps... as with my ninja and yateloon 1.16v@2.2ghz uguru says 44-45c, it jumps between the 2.

Sharka does good business. They have all the new Zalman parts before any other retailers, I believe they are launch partners with Zalman.. I remember they had VF900 like a week or 2 before anyone else.
