If you don't mind a slow ethernet, it might be a good idea. Wireless networks typically only work at 11Mb/s, and USB only works at 14Mb/s. So it's slower than, say, PCI NICs and Firewire, but if it's what you want, I say go with it.

Bear in mind what frequency it runs on. If you have a cordless phone, they MAY interrupt eachother.

It all depends on the price. Like Wa11y said, USB is 14mbps and wireless is 11mbps, so that really shouldn't matter, unless it's not 102.11b, then it's not going to be very fast.

I would stay away from this for 2 reasons:

1)Intel's name
2) usb networking

802.11b wireless is 11Mb/sec

USB is 12Mb/sec

802.11a (Intel's warped new wireless) is 54Mb/sec but not compatible with 802.11b

802.11g (new IEEE standard coming out really soon) is 54Mb/sec and is 100% compatible with 802.11b, it's predecessor.

Stick with known standards and NOT with Intel's "I'll slap some crap together and make it a standard" standard.

all very good advice

im still not sure if its a go or no go situation

basicly im trying to get cpu#1 and cpu#2 to be on a network together............ BUT one is all the way downstairs and moving all the time so i figure that yea ethernet is nice but im not drilling holes in all my walls just so i can hook it up for a week before it moves

so what is a good wireless networking card that wont break the bank

basicly all i need it to do

is network some game play
and suck the internet off of cpu#1 (witch as a modem )
share some folders
share a printer

like under 80 bucks each

If you are not stuck on wireless the easy way to run lines is through the cold air returns for the furnace-no holes to drill. Granted this only works if you have forced air heating.

if people want to move family comptuer to dinning room fine

i just dont want to have to re run the wire
