The Halt command.

First of all i woiuld like to say Hi the the community!

I really tried to use Search, and i found many threads about the halt command.

I heard that in WinXP you have to edit the registry, and was just wondering is there anyone who could tell me what exactly i should edit in there :eh?:

Halt commands can be issued both through the Bios, and through software. What motherboard, CPU, Bios revision are you running? There are several CPUIdle/Halt command programs that you can run on top of Windows, but I'm not sure on Windows XP. I don't know the registry tag you need to edit either...

winXP does it automatically as does 2k and NT, it;s only 95/98/ME you need a separate program.

Welcome To The Forums. I think you should download WPCREDIT (http://download.viahardware.com/WPCREDIT/wpcre12a.exe),WPCRSET (http://download.viahardware.com/WPCREDIT/wpcrs120.exe) & KT133/133A (http://download.viahardware.com/WPCREDIT/kt133.zip) PCR file to start with. Install both apps with the PCR file. You will need to change register 52(HEX) value to EB. If you need more help just post back.

If it does it doesn't do it for me. 47c idle, 50c load.

Which bios are you running? 4A or 64? Just for my own personal agenda. I haven't tried 64 yet.
