I recently got back to school and set up my wireless network. I wanted to access my router to change some settings, but when I type in the routers IP address it says page can not be displayed. Anyone have any ideas why it would say this? Is there an easy way to check the routers IP to be sure I've got it right?

ipconfig.exe /all

It should give you your standard gateway which should be your router.

I don't see standard gateway anywhere. It shows a 'default gateway' which I tried and it didnt work.

Edit: I reset the router by holding the reset button for 10 seconds, typed in the default IP (192.168.1.1) got a page that said:

Under Construction
The site you were trying to reach does not currently have a default page. It may be in the process of being upgraded.

Please try this site again later. If you still experience the problem, try contacting the Web site administrator.

What router do you have? Are you sure you're connected to the right one? Stupid question but where I live I can see around 10 wireless networks, two of them have the same 'deafult' name.

Try using a wire?

I am hard wired right now, this is really weird. Im using a linksys WRT54GL. :(

EDIT: If it helps I upgraded the firmware to the latest version of this: http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/index.php

EDIT EDIT: Is it possible that this firmware uses a different default IP?

You may want to try one of two things.
A hard reset:
unplug the router and hold the reset button for 30sec. This could reset you to the defaults.

If that one doesnt work, try this.
An extra-hard reset:
The last time I called Linksys they had me
1) press and hold reset
2) wait 30 sec then unplug the power
3) wait another 30 sec then plug the power back in
4) wait another 30 sec then release reset

This might be a dumb question but are you connected to your parents internet or do you have your own?

Im on my school network. I fixed the problem, it turns out when I reset it to factory defaults someone was attempting to access my router's web based utility. I kept resetting it and eventually I was able to access it before they did and lock them out of it. Good to go now, thanks for all the help.
