I need some help on a modem. My parents live down stairs and I live upstairs. The thing is some modems only allow single users to use them meaning only one computer. My parents have a Touchstone telephony modem. How can I find out whether I can connect or not? Where do I figure out the information. And yes I read the read me and stuff in the box and it doesnt say anything about how many users can use the modem.
Thanks For Your Help

Yes me and my parents have Xp and thats what im planning to do is use my parent internet with a router and linksys wireless USB network card. Some modems only allow one computer or you can pay more. I dont want to pay a fee for letting me use the modem. I want to find out if there can be more than one computer to connect.

thats the whole point of having the router, it masks everything behind it, so its still only 1 external IP. You can hook up as many computers as u want behind the router and they'll never know...of course if your not allowed to do that well I can't recommend it
