Imagine how far you could overclock these p4s when they are chucking out 2/3 of the heat!!

Maybe, maybe not. It depends on what they did to lower the TDP. If it's just a FUD-like change by altering how TDP is defined then it means nothing. If they altered the production process to favor operation with lower wattage it could actually hurt oc'ing. Or it could be that they've performed some miracle to drop the wattage by 1/5th and not changed the charactersistics of the chips otherwise but that makes me wonder why they hadn't done it long ago.

Note that AMDs low-wattage CPUs are pretty bad at oc'ing:

They tweaked the production methods to get their lower wattage ratings. Of course that doesn't mean the same is true for Intel but in any case an oc'd e6300/6400 will still rock the P4D's.

this is a new stepping, D0 it says. i would bet that these overclock better. maybe we'll see something close to 8ghz eventually from someone on LN2.

Intel C2D e6300 is Overclockers dream =) people getting over 100% OCs on these things

Seems a little late really. C2D's are the way to go. Buying any other chip right now kinda seems to be a waste of money. If you think about it, a 180$ e6300 is faster than any other chip out there except for other C2D's and a few processors that are way more expensive.

some people buy cpu's only to OC. that's why he's calling it the overclockers dream. i bet on LN2, they would be super fun to oc, i look forward to seeing some numbers from these things. :)

but yes, if buying for a main rig for day to day use, there is no point in them. apart from oem's, who will still sell a ton of p4's for some time.
