not surprised....
i WOULD be surprised if they actually get it out the door AT ALL in 07. even if they do launch in march, they will be so limited and expensive, it might as well be a paper launch.

Umm just read that its pushing UK release date to March of 2007.
US release would be 400k units and Japan would get 100k units (which seems odd to me). Overall there missing 1.5million units for ship date, yet they expect to get 6million still for the March 07 date.
While it is post on http://www.tgdaily.com/2006/09/06/ps3_allocation_cut/ I trust that sourse more then just someone posting on a forum.
BTW Here was the first post on this subject. http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=476466

Still, I wouldn't be surprised if they were to push back the release in the US until Summer of '07

Wow. I'm not one of those mud slingers or anything. But Sony is really not doing well with these things. It seems, to me, that by that time, the hardware in those things is already started to get a little dated. I know that isn't always such a big deal with Consoles as it would be with a PC. But still, tough break for them. Hope it still works out. Would suck to keep going without any competition for the X360.

I would be, I think the only reason why they are delaying the release over sea's is to make the launch in the US/Japan more successful.
Can you say fiasco? I knew you could.
way to jump the gun on that one...its delayed in the UK, next time try reading a little closer.

It's the UK and Europe. That's an entire continent, not one country. IBM probably cannot supply enough Cell chips due to insufficient yields more than anything else (despite the bluray claims). We know the yields are bad, apparently at 10-20%. So for Sony's estimate of 2 million units shipping by the Christmas period, there would be at best 8 million Cell chips wasted and at worst 18 million...
IBM says at best, with improvements, yields could be at 40%, but that would still mean 3 million chips wasted. That's a lot less, but still a lot of chips good for nothing but scrap. I wonder which is likely to be the more difficult problem for Sony. :-/

Its not the cell chips its the Blu-Ray diodes which are a PITA to manufacture. Its all over the place of how much a problem it is to manufacture them.

As well as the cell chips.
Every time this damn thing is delayed or something, somebody has to post a brand-new thread about it rather than digging up one of the old ones and adding new info.
