just finished installing and playing with the new card a bit. Upgraded from the LIVE! card, and absolutely see a difference!
Aye. 'Tis indeed an impressive sound card. Now I need to get some better speakers to go with it. I'm thinkin' the Cambridge Soundworks DTT2500.
I was wondering if you know if Audiy might get a driver for Linux

I HIGHLY agree.. can hear a total difference from the ol LIVE card :burn:
I love my Audigy, but if you really want the BEST speakers to go with the BEST sound card you got to get these:

The price is bit too high for me, but some of you rich guys out there wouldn't have a problem with $400.00 speakers :)
HOW Much difference do you hear?
I mean my dads onboard P1 166 sound is like no different from mine :) It must be the speakers!
I dunno if that's not your mind playing "It better be good for the $100+" :)
Personally, I saw no difference from SB Live (16 bit) to the Turtle Beach (24 bit), other than input levels being acceptable/clean and no crackling with the Turtle Beach. Most ears can't discern 16 to 24 bit audio... ??
Has anyone posted a review between the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz and the Audigy or am I gonna have to devise one ;) ?

I cheaped out and bought the 2.1's

But they are the best speakers made under $169
I cant even imagine how sweet the 5.1's are......

Dunno about canadian suppliers :(
I will just say briefly that the card does everything the SB Live 5.1 does, but has better inputs (as a musician this was a must) and less overall noise (no hum, etc, on in or output signals). No annoying drivers issues (though some certainly exist as they do for all products). I grabbed mine for $60 at compusa a few months back, very good price...

There are driver issues with the via southbridge on the kt266a's and with win xp, a via engineer found out it was creative playcentre but there is no patch, yet....

unless you think your sound quality isnt up to par, i wouldnt get the Audigy....i just figured out how to use EAX in WinXP with my PCI512, and its not bad at all....now only if i could get my games to better support this...

I too will have to 2nd the Klipsch speakers as the best sounding 5.1(AC-3,THX etc)SURROUND speakers, but the 2.1's lack in the bottom end quite a bit. THe 5.1's have a twin firing 8" bass driver, but the 2.1 has a single 6" driver. If you want the best sounding "stereo setup and want to keep the price under 2 bills, then the Cambridge Microworks system is one serious deal. It houses I believe a 5.25 inch bass driver, but the cabinet is very well tuned and has an exceptional set of satalites to boot. Its sound is definetly above the 2.1's in terms of output, frequency responce, and dynamic range, and it images quite well too.
