New Dreamcast for $50!! (http://news.cnet.com/news/0-1006-200-7942012.html)

I push Dreamcast a lot, but really it's the best value possible for a video game console. Get a new system and 5 games for half the price of a Gamecube/Xbox.

Just curious...

Is sega still making games for the DC? I know they are now making games for the other consoles, but didn't know if they still made them for the DC.

I actually had a DC when it first came out, then I sold it :rolleyes: , kinda wish I would have kept it.

Yes, they are still making games for DC, but onle a few...very few in matter of fact. Well, you cannot expect too much out of DC, since it is now "officially" out of race :eek:

Actually, no. Pirating had nothing to do with it.

Just before the president of Sega died in late 2000, his dying wish was that Sega stop making hardware.

If he hadn't said that, Dreamcast would still have a huge following, just as it did before.

Thats also what is going to kill GC. Its an entirely new manufacturing process to press those. You need new equipment etc, and the industry has to be ready to change that. Nintendo isn't big enough to force industry change anymore.

Yes, I got pretty mad when I saw that price. I paid around $200 for my DC a coupla years ago. I still love the system; it's definately worth picking one up for $50 if you like sports games at all. NBA2k2 and NFL2K2 are outstanding games.

Also, I still think Soul Calibur is the pinnacle of 3-d fighting games, but that's debatable ;-p

straight up AceTKK, Soul Caliber is why I bought that system in the first place. :)

Most of the other games are worth the paltry $10 most places charge for 'em...even if they're dumb, hey it was cheap!

I don't think the creator's dying wish had much to do with it...Dreamcast was great, but never too popular in the US market, and that killed it in the long run. But hey what do I know.

personally I don't think a console is worth more than $50 or so since I have this big fast screamin loud PC on my desk here. Except for fighting games, my PC is my game machine.
