Can someone recommend me some 200 doller ram to overclock with a conroe 6600? I hoep to take the cpu as far as it can go with voltages up to 1.5. I will use the asus pw5 dh.

This is $255, but this ram is incredible (Teamgroup 2gb D9s)

I had mine running 410mhz 3-3-3-1, I'm sure they had a lot more left in them due to me being FSB limited (1:1)
that RAM is a steal for 255 ;-)
so if i oc with a 1:1 ratio, this ram will run fine even when overclocked that much?

This ram will handle up to 500mhz (DDR1000) @ 4-4-3-4 w/ 2.3 / 2.4v. I think you will be fine if you run 1:1.
alright then, thanks guys, I will have my conroe system setup in a few weeks, hopefully overclocked some as well, but not all the way since I wont be getting watercooling until dx10 cards come out. Will post benchmarks, temps once i get conroe stuff!! thx 4 the help
Here are some other options:
Low budget choice (yes they will O/C to DDR2-800 speeds):

This used to be a great deal when it was on sale for $240, but now they raised the price. Good overclockers though that use D9 chips:

GSKILL RAM FOR THE WIN!!!!!!!! WOW they ramped up that price i got mine at 240.... but man that ram is AMAZING... i just setup my E6600 p5wdh system thursday night... and i just could NOT resist to accidently overclock it..... lol... i just bumped it up to 333fsb :) no overvolt ram at 2.0volts and DDR 1000 @ 4-4-4-8 timings... this stuff is AMAZING.... like i said Gskill FTW!
Just a quick question....if i oc in 1:1 ratio, and say my fsb is 400, what will the ddr2 ram speed be? is it double that?
Yes, 1:1 ratio at 400 FSB will be DDR2-800.

Damn glad I got my G.Skill for $250 per kit with rebate and that was 2 kits!

So, the Team Group memory is the *Best* for the price? Will all do 800 mhz, or just some?
Thanks

Almost all of them do. Obviously there's no absolute promise (as with any overclock) but put it this way: I have not yet had a single person complain about this memory ;)

Thank you sir.
I did some research on this memory here and at XS, and it says the good stuff is the D9GMH chip.
It says the 667 memory is D9GMH. Is the DDR 800 and 1000 also the D9GMH but speed binned higher? Any advantage of the DDR 800 stuff over 667 outside of spec'd speed?
*Btw: On your site the Conroe is listed up top as available @ $340. When you add it to cart, it's $350.
Thanks

both the 667 and the 800 do fine at 960 on my p5b-d 4-4-3-8- stable folding 724. I am running them at 2.4V ... althougth i didn't really try them at lower volts. My P5b-d bios does like to post clean when i run any mem at the max v of 2.45.
I had some issues with them on the ds3 ... but at the time the bios needed a reset cuz nothing was working when i tried them  ... my guess is the ds3 was just being temperental at the time. I haven't been back to to the ds3 try them out again yet.
