Okay, this is the stupidest problem i've encountered. Okay, you know the login/welcome screen and how you can change them? Well I changed it to some niftly little silver scheme and my video mode was 1600x1200 at the time. Well i had been typing for a while and i put the resolution back down to 1024x768. well here's where i encountered the problem. It was time for me to goto bed so i turned off the computer. Next morning i went to turn it on and when it got to the login/welcome screen all it displayed was the Turn off Jusin's Computer but not the place where you can enter your password to get into windows. i have reports on there that i need before monday please help!!!! is there anyway that i can *ahem* bypass the security, anyway to enter setup via boot disk and change the login mode from the graphical fancy way back to the old school conventional way, anything?!?!?! please help, thanks ahead of time.

"Windows 2000 style logon:
To revert back to the Win2k style logon so you can log on as the administrator and other options, press ctrl+alt+delete twice"

Boy, that sucks. I have made my own screen changes and this scares me a bit.

However, if I had your problem I would try to boot into the safe mode and make changes from there. Try F8 at boot up to see if you can get the DOS screen which allows you to choose boot options. Did you install the XP Logon UI program or make the changes manually?

YES!! I know what you can do! This happened to me with a Gundam Logon Screen. OK, when you boot up your computer, dont touch anything!!. Let it boot into the windows logon screen. Now, you cant see this but the cursor by default will be blinking in the password screen. Just type inyour password and your good to go!! Once you are in wondows xp, just change the screen to something else. Hope this helps!. Itf it doesnt work, pm me cause I had the same exact problem.

hmm..it didn't work. i waited for it to boot to the logon screen (by the way it IS the gundam one...), i didn't move the mouse or anything, i typed in my password, pressed enter but still nothing happened, damn, this sucks...

hmmm.....maybe you can try this. Itll take a couple of steps but maybe itll work. You can try to press tab each time and type in your password. Because tab changes which box you are in. I checked it out for you. Pressing tab once goes no where, twice you go the bottom where it says shutdown, three times also nothihng, and four times you are back inthe pw box. Maybe you can try that?? I really think they should take of that gundam one, its really neat looking but it just doesnt work. TEll me if that works, cause if it doesnt, then ill have to think of something else.

btw, did you try Blackearths idea?? maybe reverting to the simple win2000 logon scheme would be the fastest tnad easiest! And also, are you using the pro or home one cause the version im using is the Pro version.

EDIT: And another thing, do you have more than one user?? Because if you do, then my tab theory wouldnt work. If you more users, try the first idea where you dont touch anything and try all the passwords that the users have. For instance, if you four users, boot, dont touch, type password for first user, if it doesnt work, then you repeat. HAha, i know this will take a long time but just think of the feeling youll get when it finnally logs in!
